Right off the bat, Birch seems to be all kinds of done with everyone’s crap. He doesn’t take orders well if he must take them at all. He holds the firm belief (and a curse) that the more information anyone knows about you, the more power they have over you, so he won’t even willingly give his actual name let alone any other facts about himself. He’s stubborn and at times self-important. There are many days he dresses like an aristocrat, but only selectively acts like one. Though he wasn't always this way, he's now rather grouchy with a short temper. He says what he thinks unless it doesn’t serve him well. Birch is perfectly capable of being nice and charming, especially if he needs to be for manipulation purposes, but no matter how dashing he might come off as, he can't keep up the charade forever and will end up back in his blunt ways.
On a more positive note, Birch somehow manages to pull people in as if his gravitational pull has a mind of its own. He is fierce and passionate in his feelings and beliefs and does not falter easily. A lot of emotions are hidden under aloofness or anger, but those that stick around might be able to lift that mask to see the true Birch beneath. He wasn't always how he is now, but life changes people. He's lived countless lives over.
There’s yet another side of him that is more sadistic in nature, a darkness is in him that he doesn’t even try to fight most of the time. He might not always like it, and at times it might be inconvenient, but he’s accepted that it’s there. In fact, he sometimes indulges it in hopes of regaining his former glory. It's like a beast he occasionally feeds, again, if it serves him to do so. He'll sell his soul to the dark power if it means accomplishing his goals in the end. In the midst of battle, his personality edges on lunacy. It's one of the few times he'll allow such carefree laughter because his bloodthirst takes him over.History:
Birch hails from another world. In that world, he was once a prince, long long ago. A marriage was arranged for him to an affluent family that was both friends to the crown and advantageous to the kingdom. Always a bit of a romantic, the prince was opposed to being married off without having a chance to find love, but to his surprise, he fell head over heels for the girl. They courted for a year or so, and just as they were about to marry, the trap was sprung. His lover had been putting on a charade. She wasn't content with being the queen through marriage with no real power. She wanted to be the sole ruler and enact her own plans uncontested. Dabbling in the dark arts, she placed a curse on her fiance and took absolute control of him. After killing the King and all of his family save her new slave, she promptly assumed power made a power grab for other nearby countries. This started a war with the kingdom's former allies, but she was confident in her plan. Sending the fallen prince out into battle as nothing more than an obedient soldier, the long, bloody war ended in the kingdom's growth and her ex-fiance was called back to work the castle as barely more than a butler.
Over time, Birch, as he had become known in the war, grew desperate and managed to hatch a plan with a friend he made in the war. The tyrannical queen was ultimately immortal but was poisoned into a coma, at which point her acute control over Birch was broken and he escaped. He lived on another continent for many years, regaining his strength and trying to amass power as the King of another country that could challenge his old kingdom. His ambitions were ultimately doomed, however, and before he made any real progress, an incident with a friend in that world banished him from it and tossed him out of the portal in Hoptus Forest.
As normal, the world was hostile to the invader, but then a peculiar thing happened. His ancient body quickly acclimated to the world of Vyldermire, finding the existing races easy enough to adapt to as if he'd always been from here. Looking at this as a rare second chance to start over without the baggage of his old world, Birch took advantage of no one knowing anything about him, and thus having no power over him due to the curse. He has set his ambitions high once more, with intentions of becoming the King he was always meant to be. He got right to work building himself in power, gathering followers where he can, and immersing himself into Rebel Scorpius until he can stand on his own. Hopefully, this goes better than last time.Likes:
