Despite the glorious war stories he is known for in the Holy War, Saevel would want nothing more than to settle into his peaceful life within his tribe. He is not one that seeks out fighting of any form, never venturing for heroics. The war veteran would prefer his time of fighting to be over; however, he will quickly take up arms to fight in efforts to aid an innocent or defenseless being, should they be within his vicinity.
In contrast to his younger brother, Saevel could easily be described as a facilitative elf that achieved honor through his encouraging leadership style on the battlefield, his humility, and his vision for others' success. He easily prefers to put others before himself and would much rather give up his position for others, leaving it up to the person to finish the task while he'd find something else that he could assist with or occupy his time. Thus, when his son proved to have exceptional skills as ranger, he facilitated his son’s growth and easily quit being a ranger to pursue another occupation that was needed within the tribe. He’d much rather be useful in filling the occupation positions that are needed in the tribe than creating a surplus of people within the same area. In a similar way, he sought to facilitate his son’s growth by helping him to try other areas of occupation after the trauma that caused Syril to be fearful of the world, which ultimately left him with no choice but to supportively allow his son to venture to Rivengate.
The elven war veteran admires people of the arts, such as authors of books, actors, musicians, particularly because he is not skilled in the arts or music. Although Saevel is not the adventurous type like his son used to be, he particularly takes delight in hearing stories and is quite known to be the gossiper within the tribe. His keen sense of hearing that he formerly used as a ranger before his son took over now offers him the ability to not have to travel very far to hear any of the juicy gossip. Once he overhears word of something told in secret, he is unable to keep it to himself long due to his shock or excitement and easily spills the details to anyone and everyone he meets. Despite this, Saevel is not a deceitful person by any means, never one to purposely lie about something nor create false gossip for the sake of spreading gossip. He is only the messenger in spreading whatever news he hears, describing himself to be much like a storyteller than anything else.
Overall, aside from his peaceful and facilitative personality, Saevel is often found with a smile on his face. After witnessing the devastation of war and the gloom of his wife passing away in Syril’s traumatic accident, the war veteran desperately seeks to find the little joys in his life that are often overlooked or under-appreciated by most. Not wanting to add to the sadness of this world, he refuses to allow his spirits to be dampened by anyone or by any comment he hears. History:
As the oldest of his siblings, Saevel was given most of the responsibilities for the longest time. From an early age, he learned about the importance of the tribe being strong when united, where everyone needed to pitch in to help; this was what spurred his philosophy to find a need and fill a need. Hearing species pitting against each other in the holy wars was possibly the worst thing his keen hearing had heard. Experiencing it himself when he finally stepped into the fight to protect the Anthros enslavement was another thing entirely.
Still, Saevel tried to seek the light in this darkness, and he found it in another elf woman that played the ocarina among other instruments to pacify the refugees under Shamsiel's protection. Although he struggled in his attempts at arts to impress her, they both fell in love and married for several years. His son, Syril, was truly another light in his eyes, given how similar he was to his wife. Despite the war hero's high calibre and honor, Saevel always attempted to maintain humility and was quick to step down from a position he was given in the tribe for someone else to have a chance to grow. Much like he had done for his sister-in-law, he stepped down as the head ranger of the tribe for his son to get his chance to shine. Sadly, the war veteran's first light of his life passed away after giving up her life to protect their son from a monstrous creature while the boy was on ranger patrol. The military father had since desperately sought out many ways that could help his son overcome his trauma.
While the war hero kept his sights on another creative soul much like his deceased wife, Saevel has since worked as a metalsmith with the use of his metal magic. Working at the center of the tribe, his keen ears pick up anything and everything that goes on in the tribe as his means of entertainment. Unfortunately, Syril reached a point where he decided that he would be a lot more useful in Rivengate. Although Saevel would greatly miss his son, the supportive father aided in his son's endeavors and truly hoped to hear about all of his successes soon enough. Likes:
> Anything related to the Arts, Theater, Books, Poetry, and soothing music played from instruments
> People that are skilled in creating the arts mentioned above, like his deceased wife
> Using his keen sense of hearing to pick up on juicy gossip
> Listening to stories from others and telling stories he'd heard
> The art of Archery more than Swordfighting (but he can do both)
> Having humility by putting others before himself and watching them grow and improve
> Insults or rudeness to him or to anyone - he just finds it an unnecessary way of sharing your difference of opinion
> War - he'd been fighting in the holy wars so long, he just wants to settle down in his home in peace
> Selfish attention seekers or stubbornness - Let others have a chance to shine, to change, and to growGoal/Aspiration:
Ever since he had settled down from the wars, Saevel aspires to find peace and little traces of happiness in common, everyday things that people often ignore or miss. As the metalsmith in his tribe, he is often at the center of the tribe's latest stories or gossip and does not plan to miss that. He aspires to continue to be a supportive role for his tribe, especially as a supportive father to his son, doing anything he can for their well-being. Key Fear/Adversary:
It's hard to say that Saevel would be afraid of something given all that he had seen in the wars, but perhaps the most he'd be afraid of is losing another family member after losing his wife to a terrible accident. Perhaps his biggest adversary, however, is an injury that requires him to sit down or lay down for long periods of time, as he always has a natural knack for getting up and seeing what help needs to be done and what interesting gossip can be discovered.
