A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Contrary to popular belief, Jian did not truly despise the cold. On its own, cooler weather was tolerable. Adequate. Occasionally, even pleasant. She would much rather be subjected to an unpleasant chill than have to suffer through sweltering summer sun. As a former inhabitant of one of the most temperate and stable climates around, the best weather was beautiful, sunny, and slightly warm.

After arriving in this strange new world, Jian had swiftly realized that her days of enjoying endless sunshine were over.

Today, she was attempting to acclimate herself a bit more to colder weather. Usually, Jian ended up seizing up slightly whenever her body's internal regulation system failed to work in extreme cold. The freezing weather was simply too much. Over time, though, she hoped that this type of severe reaction would fade, leaving her able to withstand snowy and frigid weather. Biting her lip, Jian stared up at the mountains. According to her findings, the Ventamir Tundra would be perfect for practicing her tolerance to withstanding an inhospitable, glacial climate. Truly, though, Jian wanted anything but to venture forwards. Shaking her head to herself, she finally mustered up enough willpower to force her feet to step forwards. One foot... next foot... just like that, she managed to force herself to slightly scale the base of the mountain. Here, the trail seemed to be altogether not too bad. Jian supposed it was because a decent number of people probably came here now and then, chickened out, and left part of the way through. She determined not to be another.

Unfortunately, it was too unrealistic for her to hope to completely scale the mountain in one go. Although Jian had packed lightly, she was well-prepared and had worn her warmest clothing. "I might as well be wearing nothing," she muttered to herself as she suffered through the frosty winds that whipped around her face, tearing at her hair and skin until she pulled her scarf more closely around herself. That was undoubtedly false, but really, it was about the feeling. She put her unease at the biting snarling of the gale out of her mind and instead returned her focus to the path itself. Luckily, there were ample opportunities and places to give oneself a small rest, and she happily found multiple reasons to take them. After reaching what seemed to be a small cave, Jian first made certain that no animals or other wildlife were inside. Furthermore, there seemed to be little to no traces that they had been here recently. Relieved that she wouldn't be encountering spokorams today, Jian dropped her pack on the ground inside of the cave and took a deep breath for what felt like the first time.

Immediately, she winced as the bitter air seeped into her lungs. "Yuuuup, never doing that again," she muttered before stretching her arms. "Better get to it." Staring at her fingers and rubbing them absentmindedly, Jian forced her magic out of her central core and throughout her veins until it reached the tips of said fingers. Her skin there slowly faded into a deep maroon until blood leaked from the pores and began to splatter on the ground. "Ew, gross. That's not what I wanted," she coughed, glancing away until she felt that it had stopped dripping. Shaking her head dismissively, Jian wiped her fingers on her pants without any pretense. This time, as her magic flowed through her body, what emerged from her skin was a crackling, dark energy that thrummed lowly in the flickering light of the pitiful fire she had set up earlier. Jian pointed the index digit of her right hand at the cave wall before deciding it might be dangerous to uh, be practicing on the space she was currently standing in. Smiling in a pained way, she trudged back outside and then peered at a nearby snow bank.

"I hate the snow," she huffed out as her fingers twitched and a blast of rippling blackness exploded the messy white fluffiness all over her face. "I really do."

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:36 pm

Once again the young witch was among her element. Though unlike before her reasons for journeying to such a dangerous and unforgiving place were purely for personal improvement. Bleuenn stared down the base of the mountains of Ventamir, it’s icy teeth acted as another layer of defense funneling all those who dared scale it’s body along a similar path. Clutching onto her filled mostly with simple necessities she set off for the mountain. With every step her ice encased feet stood atop of the untouched snow. To others Ventamir’s biting cold and cutting winds would be more than a test for those wishing to prove themselves. Yet for the under dressed Bleuenn the cold had always been under her beak and call, she was far more interested in testing her dominion over it than simply surviving.

Keeping her guard up she found it odd how the mountain lacked any sighs of monsters. From what she had gathered from others and it’s location, the tundra was supposed to be well known for holding some of the most dangerous monsters within Vyldermire. A lack of monsters means that either something really dangerous has claimed the area or perhaps people like myself have scared the creatures off momentarily. Continuing to ponder on whatever could have led to the disappearance of the mountain’s residence. Bleuenn’s eyes fell upon a single grouping of tracks. “Humanoid, rather small… a child”? Inspecting the tracks closer, Bleuenn pressed into the ground beside them for comparison. Pulling her foot out of her newly created track the witch’s fears were realized. Hastily following the tracks, Bleuenn did not have time to think about the how and why a child was alone in such a dangerous place or how and why whoever was ahead of her might have been the reason for it. No all that mattered was that there might be a child in danger.

Hello! If you can hear me please call out”! Continuing to call out, Bleuenn followed the tracks attempting to find the owner. Even with her resistance to the cold, breathing in the cold air as she called out began to sear her lungs. Coughing, but continuing to push forward her eyes would happen upon a flash of blackish magic. Fearing for the life of however may be under attack, Bleuenn used her magic to skate up the slope of the mountain magic at the ready. Racing up the hill the witch came far to face with the child in question now covered in snow from there previous attack. “Wha… are you okay…”!? Looking around haphazardly, Bleuenn had fully expected to charge into a battle, yet all that was there was the remnants of the magical blast and a bundled up little girl. Still partially confused, but realizing that there was no current threat she dismissed her magic looking back at the girl puzzled. Blinking, Bleuenn’s ruby eyes met the girl’s own. It was hard to tell anything more about the young girl as most of her form was covered by her winter gear. All the witch could gleam from her was the bit of fair skin and pink hair poking out of her bundled up head. Realizing that she was simply staring at the odd girl she waved with a smile. “Hello there young lady I have to ask, but are you possibly the reason why the area seems to be free of beasts”? While Bleuenn truly doubted that the girl before her was responsible for the monster’s relocation she had to get the young lady on her side if she was ever going to escort her to safety.

Shaking her head in hopes of sending the flurries scattering, all Jian succeeded in doing was giving herself a slight headache. Already the snow was melting on her skin and getting stuck to the fuzziness of her scarf and hood. With a huff, she was just about to turn her attention to the next pesky snowbank (this time naturally she would blast it from further away, lesson learned on that one) when a movement caught her eye. Remaining facing that direction, Jian was surprised as what looked like a girl abruptly pulled up in front of her. She seemed much more comfortable in this climate than Jian herself, who felt as though she was being ran through a blender and then dunked in ice water.

Young lady...? In her mind, Jian wondered if this was another attempt at a height joke, as she'd found inhabitants of this world seemed accustomed to poking fun of her small stature to relieve the tension or whatever reason they might have in their minds. However, when she blinked at the stranger, she didn't seem to be jesting. "No, it's not me. Maybe there's a wyvern around here," Jian remarked dryly. It was a joke, but she really didn't want to think about the possibility of being scooped up and eaten. After all, the scenario was somewhat realistic. "I haven't stolen any eggs though, so I think I should be fine." Shrugging to herself, Jian let down her guard visibly and smiled all friendly-like at the girl.

"I'm Jian, nice to meet you. Are you beast hunting? You probably noticed, but there's not much around here." She liked it better that way, was what she left unsaid. Despite how eerie it might have seemed to this stranger, who seemed to know a lot more about these mountains, Jian appreciated the peace and quiet. In the end, she had decided to come out here to practice functioning in more extreme climates without shriveling up into a pained ball. If she had to defend herself from a myriad of monsters at the same time, that would have made this scenario a lot more difficult. Jian guessed she could definitely count herself lucky, then- even if some predator had probably recently passed through (and could still be nearby).

"You wanna come inside?" Blinking, Jian tilted her head in the direction of the small cave, assuming the stranger could follow her gaze or something. She was really getting cold. Practice was nice and all that, but despite being bundled up as warmly as possible, the tundra chill combined with the thinness of the air was starting to seep into her body and bones.

A wyvern”? Taking the girl’s words at face value only helped to increase Bleuenn’s concerns and fears. Her mind whirled, finding its way to the most obvious answer; a mystical wyvern. If the girl’s words were to be believed, a mystical wyvern deciding to nest on the mountain’s peaks could explain the lack of beasts. The thought of facing such a creature was more than enough to set off Bleuenn’s flight response. Continuing to space out about how to possibly lead the young lady to safety, her remarks about not stealing an egg snapped the young witch out of her thoughts as a chill ran down her spine. Stunned Bleuenn merely stared at the girl for a moment, shocked by how the young girl could so boldly talk about stealing an egg from one of the most dangerous creatures in all of Vyldermire. “Well… that’s good I'm glad you would not try to do something so dangerous” Letting out a fear ridden chuckle the witch was amazed by the brashness of youth.

More or less prepared to lead the pink haired girl to safety by force if it came to it. Though her introduction and further questioning reminded Bleuenn that she had forgotten her manners. Quickly scanning the area once again to make sure they were safe for the moment, “Excuse my lack of manners it’s good to meet you as well Jian. I am Bleuenn Bosser, but Bleuenn is fine if you prefer”. Choosing her next words carefully the witch would try to turn the conversation towards leaving the possibly lethal area. “Monster hunting, no not currently”; though it’s highly unlikely that I would be able to survive a mystical wyvern much lest become its predator. Focusing back onto the safety of Jian and herself the ice witch could see that the elements were clawing away at Jian. Unfortunately for them, Jian would be unable to make the trip in her current state. Though at least she had pointed to a nearby cave that could not only help stave off the cold but keep them out of eye shot from whatever laid claim over the mountains. “Yes I think that would be best”.

Following Jian to the nearby cave, she made sure to brush their tracks along the way. Perhaps she was being far too paranoid, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Stopping at the entrance of the cave, Bleuenn raised her hands lifting the snow around the mouth of the cave creating a wall of snow to help better insulate from the cold. Dusting off her hands with a nod she turned back to Jian with a far more calm smile. “That should help not only warm us up but keep us safe from any possible beast that may come sniffing around”.

Even with the new insulation holding the wind at bay, it was clear that Jian was still far from warm. Dropping her bag and taking out a fur blanket Bleuenn would walk over to Jian handing it to her. “Here this should help raise your core temperature up a bit more”. While handing the blanket off to Jian she looked around for anything that could be used to help build the tiny fire no doubt lit by Jian. Though the only things that seemed to remain were bleached bones and the markings of whatever creature used to call the cave home.

Sighing Bleuenn fell backwards, seating herself on a chair formed of ice. Looking at her bag then back to Jian with concern. “I have food and water, but what you need currently is heat”. Leaning forward she would rest her mouth on her clasped hands keeping her eye on Jian. “I originally came here to improve my mastery over the elements, but that changed once I came across you and your tracks”. Scanning Jian more the young girl looked to be about her age when she left to become an adventurer. “Forgive me if I assume too much, but this is no place for a new adventurer to start out their career. Our trade is dangerous enough as it is. As your senior please accept my assistance in escorting you back to safety once you’ve warmed up”. Bleuenn knew how hard it was just starting out more so given her mixed blood. She has seen many adventurers not return from their quest out of greed or like Jian attempting to jump ahead.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Jian hid her smile of amusement behind a blank face when the stranger seemed relieved that she wouldn't go trying to steal an egg. Even if she had a shifter's longevity, she still had no lunatic's desire to bother powerful beasts and lose her life to their ire. Since the stranger laughed at least a little, she figured her words hadn't been taken seriously. Ah, here it was. Bleuenn Bosser. That was the strange lady's name. "Bleuenn, then," she murmured under her breath, as she listened to the woman respond to her questions about whether she had ventured up to this tundra for the purpose of monster hunting. It was truly a relief when Bleuenn was amicable to moving their conversation inside. Jian was, in short, freezing her butt off.

She ignored how the woman seemed to linger behind as she led the way to the cave she had pointed out through her line of sight. Once they were inside, Jian was just about to open her mouth to offer some snacks to Bleuenn when she noticed what the young woman was doing. Eyes curious, Jian watched as snow formed as a barrier in the entrance. It was a handy trick. Undoubtedly, it would do as the woman said and protect them from what could lie outside of the small cavern. However, Jian couldn't help but feel a bit stifled by the sudden change. Nevertheless, she smiled genuinely at Bleuenn and returned her nod. "Thank you, then!" It seemed like this stranger wanted to offer even more charity- perhaps she had a soft spot for freezing cold travelers, Jian thought with a sliver of amusement- and ended up approaching her with a thick, furred blanket. "Thank you," she repeated, with less volume as she blinked at the covering. Wrapping it around herself, Jian ended up slightly huddled on the floor as she slipped her hood down and loosened her scarf. Surrounded a bit less tightly, she was nonetheless a lot warmer thanks to the blanket. With her features now more visible, she examined the other girl. She also had red eyes and an unusual charm that begged the question of whether she was human or not. Jian was not yet familiar enough with the inhabitants of this world and their backgrounds to determine that herself. All she knew was that she tended to look like an Eldritch vampire or demonata, herself, and she shared some similarities with this young woman.

"Water would be nice," she said as politely as she could. If this young woman was offering, she would happily accept it. To be honest, Jian knew that she wasn't really made for this climate. Her abilities were nowhere near the skilled formation of ice that Bleuenn was obviously showcasing, with that chair of hers and the snow blockage at the mouth of the cave. "Don't disrupt your original purpose of visiting the tundra for my benefit," Jian blinked in puzzlement. Did this woman not understand that she was here on purpose? Perhaps she did, but she thought it to be a foolheardy errand. Jian couldn't entirely disagree. But she would never get much farther in terms of acclimation without truly subjecting herself to the freezing cold. "As my senior, then, maybe could I observe your elemental mastery...?" She didn't want to be rude, but Jian had absolutely no intention of allowing herself to simply be escorted off the mountains. Plus, this place was picturesque, even if it did have subzero temperatures.

"You seem to be skilled with ice and snow, and really, that's all I came here for." It wasn't entirely the truth, but it was enough of it for Jian to exude as much verity in her tone as possible. Maybe if Bleuenn thought she could stay around and supervise she would rather do that than let Jian wander off alone completely after rejecting her offer to let her remain in the Ventamir. There was little Jian could do in terms of manipulating elements outside of her own natural affinity. She had been planning to figure out the best ways to destroy ice and freezing materials, but if there was a possibility of bringing them into her own magic, she wouldn't say no. More knowledge was always highly valued in her eyes.

Water it is”. Handing off the waterskin to Jian, Bleuenn looked to the small fire then wall of snow with the thought of collecting any flammable materials the mountains had to offer. "A proper fire could of allowed for a hot drink to help warm you faster". Feeling the tug of Jian’s grasp she looked back to the now less covered girl. Noticing that she was examining her, Bleuenn simply returned the curiosity. “Your hair is lovely, reminds me of the spring bloom, perhaps it is why you face such hardships from the cold or perhaps I'm the odd one”. Amused she chuckled at her own words while returning to her chair as her mixed blood made her stranger than Jian would know. Seating herself now in a far better mood though Jian’s refusal to accept her full assistance did it’s best to ruin the moment. “Your benefit, Isn’t a good deed it’s own reward”? Thinking about the possible future of a frozen Jian only further soured the witch’s mood. “The signs of the cold are clear on you. While my reasons did not originally involve you, they do now”.

Drained of disagreeing she leaned back in the icy chair studying her self destructive company. At first she thought the young girl was a vampire, but the request for water quickly killed off such thoughts. Bleuenn’s further thoughts on Jian’s eldritch nature were cut short by her request. Bleuenn’s brow furrowed as her expression went from a smile to a mix of confusion by the girl’s choice of location. Holding back her desire to chastise the young girl for choosing the most dangerous place to attempt to brave the cold, Bleuenn merely gave the foolish girl a small smile. “Oddly enough I came here as well in the name of self improvement so you don’t have to worry about ‘disrupting my original goal’ as we can help each other”. Thinking back to the spark of magic that led her to Jian, Bleuenn held herself back from getting too excited over the prospect of gaining a live tester for her untested spells she had been working on. Positively glowing the witch used all of her willpower to remain focused on Jian’s safety first as her grin grew. “ I’d love nothing more than to pursue the magical arts with you, however this is not the right time or place to do so as a more controlled and safe location would be better suited”.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Sat Jul 10, 2021 1:12 am

At the strange compliments, Jian sent her new acquaintance a faint smile. Hopefully it displayed her feelings of being slightly charmed, but also puzzled. Could it be that her blood and status as a being from another world was part of what was giving her issues with cold climates here in this universe? That was a definite possibility. Jian had considered it before; the Sikan continent where she had resided in the past was full of desert lands and warm, sprawling masses of sunlit territory. Anyway, she returned her attention back to Bleuenn. Undoubtedly, the young woman seemed a bit prickly or displeased with what Jian was proposing. Shrugging visibly, she could only reply, "Very well. Your reasons are your own; either way, I'm grateful for your company." Whether or not that was true, there was no reason to be rude about it. If Jian was so obviously suffering from the glacial weather, she wouldn't let an argument start over it.

Well, it was certainly convenient that Bleuenn's goal matched up well with her own. Helping each other would be fantastic, especially seeing as Jian truly did want to learn more about the elements of ice, snow, and the cold. She was still unfamiliar with the strange and wild power that echoed through almost everything in this world. Nature was more powerful here than it ever could have been back home. For Jian personally, her own inner powers and abilities had also shifted slightly since her arrival here. Perhaps that was common; she had no idea how many people stumbled across dimensions as she had. Definitely, she was not the first. More research on that would be useful, but for now, she put it out of her thoughts. "I agree that for some magic, there are more apt locations, but this one is great because of its weather." She shrugged once again, though. From what Jian could deduce, Bleueunn was determined not to budge on the 'safety' of this matter. Jian could always return here to continue working on her resistance to the frigid atmosphere and thin air. Aclimation was no longer her priority, not when she had someone willing to educate her more in icy magic and perhaps even indulge her with some demonstrations.

Eyes sparkling at the thought, Jian finally said, "If you think it's better suited, then I'd better trust your word on that," and she slowly got to her feet from where she had been sitting on the ground with her legs curled underneath her body. Not all of them had the ability to mysteriously manufacture ice sculpture seats into existence, after all, Jian thought amusedly. "Where to, then?" She was willing to follow Bleueunn wherever, for now. Personally, Jian didn't know of a great 'controlled and safe' area off the top of her head. Mostly, she ended up practicing wherever she could and skulking away if someone came to investigate and seemed like the type to get her into trouble.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Sat Jul 10, 2021 10:23 am

Nodding Bleuenn could not help but let herself get sucked into the conversation. “Exactly, areas under your domain allow for more freedom and versatility that could not be accessed without great effort on the casters part to shape the area into the element of their choice. Though of course some areas that are counter to the element are practically impossible to shape and change or in the very least not worth the effort or time it would take. Not a wise choice in a fight when relocation to a less detrimental area is far easier”. Abandoning her seat Bleuenn inched closer to the fire and Jian her ruby eyes tinkling with a mix of wonderment and excitement that outshined her company’s bordering on obsession. “ Just like yourself I've been trying to find a way to bypass ice’s weakness to fire. In Ephonell’s The Scales of the Elements it is said that ice is not only a subset of water but of wind as well. Though that does not really help me as wind is often used alongside fire to amplify or augment a spell. However, water has the advantage over fire, but my natural or mastery by Simorith’s words from her book The Magic Bloodied states that those with mastery over any one element forgo all other magic in exchange for power and control over their birth element”.

Piling on more and more knowledge and references to books and studies on magic Bleuenn cut herself off as she realized that not only was she rambling on, but the young witch had completely forgotten to answer and explain where she planned to guide the young girl. Not only did she not explain the location, but Bleuenn had no idea where Jian was with her own magical ability and knowledge possibly advancing too far for the budding magic user. Frozen Bleuenn stared at Jian as her face began to redden as the realization kicked in. Clearing her throat and smoothing out her clothing the witch calmed herself before getting back onto the topic at hand. Typing her hat down and using the tag in an attempt to obscure her reddened face from Jian, she returned to her more calm demeanor. “The location I had in mind was somewhere nearby with less unknowns and far less dangerous creatures at least if the current guild dossiers are correct”. Taking a deep breath Bleuenn focused on making sure to not let herself ramble one again with magic being in her next sentence. “The flat tundra below make a far more suitable area to practice. Casting magic on the mountains could lead to an avalanche or gain the attention of whatever has claimed the mountain”.

Holding her arm closer to the fire she did her best to show off the sparkling ice that covered not only her arm, but her entire body. “ Once you warm up I can place the same enchantment on you as well”. Focusing on her arm Bleuenn rotated her hand around showing off how the ice flexes and reforms to allow for mobility. Knocking on her wrist with her free hand the sounds would go from a crinkling to a tap then a ring and finally a thick tunk as the witch changed the density of the ice around her arm. “One of the first things I learned to control. Helps to keep yourself cool or resist the cold while also acting as a layer of defense”. Smiling she thought back to her day she finally mastered the ability and how proud her grandfather was of her. “Ah, sorry I'm doing it again”. Shaking her head, Bleuenn looked at Jian curious about what magic the young girl possessed. “I only saw a flash of your talents enough to know that you have the basics down. While you warm up can you show me an example? I happen to have quite the eye for magic. Perhaps I can give you some pointers to better condense, form or project any magic you may be having issues with”. Tapping the side of her eye Bleuenn gave her fellow magic users a smile hinting at another one of her magical talents.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Sat Jul 10, 2021 11:05 am

If Jian was being honest with herself, she didn't know where Bleueunn came up with half of what she was saying. All she had mentioned was valuing this location partially because of its climate, and suddenly the other girl was making a variety of wild assumptions. Of course, Jian was happy to listen along as she blinked in partial confusion, partial interest. Perhaps this entire thing had started because of several minutes ago when she had mentioned being interested in the elements of ice and snow. Either way, she wasn't complaining. Free knowledge was free knowledge. Just then, the realization finally hit her. Ah. Bleueunn had taken her words about valuing the location as more relevant to magic than she'd thought. Honestly, all Jian had meant was that she liked the environment here because it was cold and beautiful. The picturesque scenery was truly a motivating factor. As for her acknowledgement that other areas were more apt for some magic-doing, that had been mostly to concede to Bleueunn's insistence that they go somewhere else. Shrugging to herself, Jian found herself nodding along as the other girl seemed to grow in excitement. "There will always be detrimental areas for one magic or another," she generalized in agreement. It was also interesting that Bleueunn seemed thrilled by the idea of ice overcoming fire. Jian disliked ice and secretly hoped that fire could overcome it reliably, but the happiness and interest on the young woman's face was so pure that she kept her mouth shut on that one. Their reasons for wanting to investigate more about ice were very different, but that didn't have to be a point of contention if it just wasn't a point at all.

Truly, the elements were confusing at times. As Bleueunn was saying, water could have a natural advantage over fire, but ice wielders probably couldn't use water with any efficiency if they were elemental masters of ice. Which was unfortunate for them, but Jian wasn't that tied to her main element to the extent that she could no longer use any others. Although her chaotic power was less intense and damaging, she still retained her magical flexibility. Blinking as suddenly the constant flow of words cut off, Jian gazed at Bleueunn as the other mage seemed to either catch her breath or catch herself in another way. Honestly, she didn't mind the rambling, it was mildly endearing. Also, it had helped distract Bleueunn from actually leading her to another location. Apparently, that method was no longer useful, though. "Flat tundra it is," Jian finally responded after the other magic user had explained the location she'd anticipated would make a much better practice place. There weren't many monsters around anyway, and even if there had been, Jian had ways to escape swiftly. But she couldn't hide the nagging feeling that there might unironically be a mystical wyvern out hunting in the area. Shaking her head to dismiss these thoughts, Jian returned her full attention to their conversation. She examined the extremity that Bleueunn was stretching out on display. That movement helped Jian realize it was a layer of glinting ice that was giving off the small reflections of light in the dimness of the cave as Bleueunn moved her arm around to show it more obviously.

While she was slightly disappointed that she wouldn't be able to scale the mountain in order to reach the perfectly serene, silent peaks, Jian acknowledged that trudging back down to the flatter grounds would be a wise decision. After all, she had gotten in what would likely be her biweekly or so dose of an extremely cold climate. Eventually, over time, Jian hoped that a routine that included changes in her body temperature would help her be less affected by the heat or cold of her surroundings. She moved her arm around in the same motion as Bleueunn was currently doing as she listened to the young woman speak. It did seem like a very useful spell. "I don't mind, so you don't have to apologize" Jian waved away whatever the other girl was apologizing for. There was no harm in hearing more background about the spell, and if it made Bleueunn smile to think of her grandfather teaching her, then Jian wouldn't comment on it whatsoever. "My talents..." she flexed her fingers experimentally. They were still slightly crackling from earlier. Truly, Jian detested the feeling of electricity in any way, but she had to deal with it. After landing in this world, she seemed to be trailed by blood and lightning whenever she tried to use her magic. It was frustrating, but she had become slightly more accustomed to the strange effects. Taking a shallow breath, Jian's fingers of her right hand extended, palm up, and a crackling dark orb materialized. Although it still had a distinctive shape, there was an unsettling wildness to the sphere. Since they were inside the cave for now, she didn't want to go blasting anything. Resisting the temptation to close her eyes to better focus, Jian stared intently at the center of her palm until the ball broke apart into shards of chaotic energy that rained down from the small distance from her hand to the ground. It was easier to just let her magic come apart. Forcefully keeping it in an organized fashion could build up power, but it was also unstable.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:20 am

Bleuenn perked up as Jian repeated the mention of her talents. However, unlike herself the possibly pink haired Eldritch seemed far less enthused about her magic. “Don’t worry if you don’t have anything fancy, simply focusing your mana is enough. I can see the flow of magic so I can help you better understand any issues you may have”. With a smile the witch did her best to try and support and ease Jian’s worries. Rocking closer she focused on Jian’s finger as she flexed it. Peering into Jian’s own mana she expected to see a pool of mana throughout Jian’s body collecting in her finger. Yet what she saw was clouded and chaotic, almost as if the flow was clogged with what little magic that was let through seemed to be erratic with a will of its own.

Jian, stop, you don’t have to push yourself”! Calling out for Jian to stop her spell seemed to be far too late as Bleuenn was aware that she did not have control over her talents. Watching powerlessly, Bleuenn recoiled as she watched as Jian magic fought and damaged her praying that whatever damage inflicted be minor. Preparing a spell Bleuenn could see the beginnings of a dark sinister orb forming. Once it reached it’s full size Bleuenn had planned on encasing the unstable orb in an attempt to minimize the damage. Just as she was about to encase the orb she saw that Jian was still in control of the orb. “Okay i’ll stand by, but if you feel your control slipping I am here”. Keeping her own spell at the ready she watched as the orb was sent a safe way away from the both of them only to be dispersed; almost as if it was shattered under its own force.

Watching the last of the chaotic energy rain down she turned back to Jian with an apologetic expression. “I’m so sorry, I should have not asked for you to show me, I got caught up in my own curiosity. I did not see that you were uncomfortable and not only that I caused you harm”! Guilt crushed against her entire body for what she had unknowingly done to Jian. Even though she was unaware of Jian’s current issue with her magic, Bleuenn could not forgive herself even though the act did lead to a few theories on why and how to possibly fix Jian’s predicament. Letting out one more round of apologies she looked Jian in the eye with a serious tone. “You don’t have to answer if you do not wish as this is rather personal. Though just so you know I have met and assisted many other outworlders who experience the same loss of power and control”. Pausing Bleuenn allowed for some time to pass letting Jian to process her words, “Jian are you an Outworlder”?

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Sun Jul 11, 2021 5:20 pm

She tilted her head slightly in consideration of Bleuenn's words as the last of the orb dissipated into shards on the ground. First, it would be best to reassure the other that she didn't need to apologize. "It's alright, it wasn't your fault," Jian blinked in confusion as the mage suddenly started to blame herself for her discomfort and pain. That was just the nature of using her magic, for some reason. After dealing with it for a few months now, she was beginning to become more accustomed to this strangeness. In the past, it had felt almost handicapping to try to manage her newly found lack of control. Despite always having a rather dark and chaotic energy interwoven with every spell she cast in the past, now they were unduly uncontrollable. But Jian guessed this was just part of the fun of being thrown into a new place with new rules and laws of magic or physics.

Just then, Bleueunn asked her something that the girl found to be rather personal, but she supposed there was no harm in answering it. Although Jian disliked revealing too much information about herself to strangers, it was rather unavoidable since Blueuenn had already witnessed her magic. And the other girl didn't seem like she had any ill intent to spare, anyhow. "An Outworlder? I guess I am," she rubbed her fingers against the material on her pants in an attempt to restore normal sensation and rid herself of the strange tingling. The label of being an Outworlder was something that Jian was unfamiliar with. She had assumed that being transported to this new dimension or universe had drastically affected her body and abilities. However, Jian hadn't been fully aware that there were multiple others in the same situation as her, with their powers hampered.

"How many people tend to stumble into this world from another?" She finally asked the question that had been on her mind since earlier. Whether or not Bleueunn knew the answer, she obviously knew something about the commonality of these 'Outworlders' like herself. And she had apparently met multiple of them and aided those individuals as well. It was entirely possible that Bleueunn was specialized in this field, so Jian couldn't just assume that this situation meant Outworlders were common here. But it was a likely possibility.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:25 pm

Remaining silent, but with a soft and kind expression, Bleuenn waited for Jian’s response no matter what it would be. Jian.. Jian, the witch, thought on her companion's name and how it had a similar sound to Xiu, her mother's name. While Bleuenn may have not known much about her mother, she did not think she was an outworlder as by her grandfather’s letter she seemed to be a pure blood witch. Also Jian clothing and the clothing that she wore in memory of her mother were completely different. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.

Returning from her haze of thoughts, Jian cemented her theory as a fact about her pink haired companion. Beaming at Jian, “Thank you for your honesty. I know it could not have been easy given how people like yourself are seen by others”. In fact even though she hid it, Bleuenn was wary of Outworlders and their intention as their so called technology almost doomed her world. Sinking back away into her own thoughts about what the other worldly technology truly was she focused back to Jian as she asked her question. “I can’t give you an exact number as many people from other worlds have come upon my.. Our world, even founding a city of their own. Counting you I have personally met three as it is still quite rare that happening upon one is almost unheard of”. Pausing, Bleuenn scrambled her brain for any more interesting notes about outworlders. “I’m sorry that I'm not much help, my knowledge is more on magic not outworlders”.. Looking away but quickly snapping her fingers while shooting back to Jian. “Oh! There is a guild known as Aura that could provide you with far more information as they specialize in those such as yourself. I was planning on going there one day myself, perhaps if you're willing we can travel there together”?

Watching and waiting for Jian to process not only all of the information, but her request. Bleuenn’s smile waved as she still saw the remenauts of Jian’s use of her magic. “Jian”, Looking to her possible friend with concern. “I know you don’t want me to apologize again, but I've met others like you and they all have the same issues”. Pausing and looking away she was unsure if she should even bring up such a topic as she had no idea of the risks or even if it would work, but if it may help she has to try. “Now you do not have to do it if you do not want to, but i’ve been thinking that if ones such as yourself slowly acclimate to my world and it’s magic. Perhaps passing on my mana onto yours like a sort of transfusion may speed up and even help you control and not cause further harm to yourself when you use your magic”. Once she had finished, the witch immediately regretted mentioning it. “Nnooo nevermind it’s never been tested, it’s just a stupid thought i’ve been thinking forget it”! Quickly trying to take it back and remove the thought from Jian’s mind. Bleuenn shuttered and waved her hands in an attempt to wave the thoughts away from the both of them.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:10 pm

Jian mostly listened for the next short period of time as Bleu reacted to her admittance that she was an otherworlder. To be completely honest, it wasn't too difficult for the girl to be truthful because of the reasons she had stated. Instead, Jian was just naturally apprehensive about sharing personal information about her. True information, at least. But Bleueunn seemed to see it more as revealing she was part of either an oppressed or perhaps oppressive group...? That wasn't quite the right way of putting it, but Jian could tell there was some stigma behind the label of being an Outworlder. Whether or not that was only in the area from where Bleueunn had originated, Jian couldn't be sure. However, she assumed that this applied to the entire world they currently were living in, as a whole. Perhaps that was a bad assumption to make, but Jian was just going off of what she currently knew. According to what Bleueunn was now saying, there was an entire city with other Outworlders. Perhaps they were also from Sika. There was no way of being sure, but Jian guessed that she wouldn't have been mistaken for at least being partially Eldritch if that would have been the case. If people from Sika often landed here in this dimension, shifters would be much more commonly known and recognized. "It's alright that you don't know, you already told me a lot," she smiled, trying to convey that she found Bleueunn's words to be helpful regardless of the level of information provided.

Even though she was apologizing for her memories focusing mostly on magic and not on Outworlders themselves, Jian was currently very interested in magic nonetheless. She made note of that, and then her attention locked onto the other girl as she snapped her fingers suddenly. Hm? What was it... ohh. Jian once again found herself rubbing her fingers against the material of her clothes thoughtfully as her head tilted slightly to one side. Thinking about it, that type of a guild could be helpful. As long as it was run at least partially by Outworlders like herself, she might be interested in visiting. Otherwise, it could be important to wear some sort of a disguise, lest she be recognized as an Outworlder herself. With foreign governments (even from the same dimension) Jian had found in the past that sometimes they wanted to take apart and pick apart people who they saw as different from them. In Sika, shifters were often examined with a microscope or seen as unnatural. If that was the case here, it was possible this 'Aura' offered either protection from such people or were the ones who Outworlders might require protection from. For now, Jian couldn't be sure of which was true, so she would proceed with caution wherever they were involved. To give Bleueunn an answer for now, she simply nodded slightly when the young woman mentioned maybe traveling to there as a pair.

Bleueunn seemed to be patiently waiting for her to give her acknowledgement before she continued on. Listening, Jian continued to smile even though she was beginning to become slightly confused. However, she would strive not to show anything on her face, instead presenting an interested expression. And to be honest, she was intrigued. A possible mana transfusion? That sounded like it carried a great deal of risk, but she had no idea if it would actually do anything. For now, Jian was loathe to risk it, but she guessed that worst case scenario, she would die and have to reform herself somehow. The benefits of being a pseudo-immortal creature, she supposed. And if it permanently damaged her magic, well, Jian had dealt with a lot harder of situations. Normally she wasn't one to throw caution to the wind, but her magic was already having so many difficulties that she doubted it could get much worse. "I agree to it, if you're willing to perform it," Jian said carefully. "If you do think it's a stupid thought, though, you can forget about it," she smiled. Something told her Bleueunn had only said to forget about it and that it was stupid because she felt self conscious. But if the other girl had actually meant for her never to mention it again, she was well prepared to do so.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Tue Jul 13, 2021 6:46 am

Hearing Jian agree to the idea made Bleuenn freeze up with dread at the prospect of attempting a mana transfusion. Raising her hand up, gesturing for Jian to hold on, but her pink haired friend spoke up once again leaving the choice fully in her lap. Lowing her hands back down she was torn between the two choices. On the one hand it should be fine with enough time. However, who knows what may happen out there. If Jian was forced to use her magic to defend herself she could very well die or cause irreversible damage making magic an impossibility.

Thinking more about a magical transfusion and the dangers of such a task. She knew that mana was far more than just simply a resource used to project your will onto the world, it was part of your entire being. Removing such a thing completely to then replace it with another’s mana could lead to death or the death of the Jian. Shaking her head, Bleuenn was firmly against such an extreme measure, however another idea came to the witch. “Perhaps, not a transfusion, but an application”. Facing Jian but looking off to another world as her mind wandered off into her thoughts. “For example with healing magic you are applying, shaping and converting your magic your or another’s flesh to speed up the body's healing while acting as a guide or creating new flesh with more advanced spells”. Realizing that she was again getting off topic she focused on Jian. “Think of a antivenom instead of replacing it. I will introduce a bit of my mana to help your body acclimate better to my world sort of how an antivenom introduces antibodies to fight venom”.

Standing up and seating herself in front of Jian, Bleuenn would outstretch her arms with her palms facing upwards to the bundled up Jian. “Whenever you are ready, place your hands atop mine. Don’t worry, I'll start with a minimal amount as a test. If it goes well I'll introduce more if it is less beneficial we’ll stop”. Finished with her explanation she gave Jian another soft reassuring smile to show that she would not do anything to harm her.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Tue Jul 13, 2021 4:38 pm

Bleueunn appeared to be rather torn. She couldn't help but feel sympathy for the other girl, since considering her nature based on what she had seen so far, the other mage was rather anxious and worried about all of the possibilities. Of course, Jian could be wrong about her initial feelings towards this new acquaintance of hers, but that was simply her initial, cursory understanding. Whether it was a transfusion or an application, as Bleueunn was saying, Jian was surprised to find herself amicable to the idea. Usually she would detest someone tampering with her magic or observing it in any way, but... well, perhaps her arrival in this new world had changed her more than she had thought. The way Bleuenn described this so called application of healing magic was satisfying enough for Jian's curiosity. If it was more of an application onto her won body, then Jian could understand why Bleueunn thought this would be a safer route. Even with shaping and converting mana onto someone else or on their flesh, as the other girl was saying, that still could be dangerous. Jian continued to nod along, showing Bleueunn that she understood. An antivenom was a comparison that she also found very intriguing and a bit difficult to understand. While she understood the end effects of an antivenom, Jian had never actually been taught or educated in its effects on the body and how it fights venom. Therefore, she was also learning something new in that regard.

"Very well, that sounds like an extremely well thought out plan, so I feel more secure," Jian informed Bleueunn, projecting as much honesty as possible into her voice. She tentatively placed her hands on top of the other girl's, ready to see if there would be a terrible reaction to this process. She had always done terrible with tests in the past, since people had tried to examine her systems and bodily functions due to her being a strange amalgamation of a shifter and human. However, in this new world, there were different lines drawn between different species. Jian simultaneously crossed them and also failed to fit into any or surpass any of these boxes beings were thrust into.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Wed Jul 14, 2021 4:29 pm

Bleuenn opened her mouth, but quickly shut it as she could see that Jian was already indecisive enough without the addition of how the witch had just come up with the idea on the spot. Feeling her younger companion touch, Bleuenn would gently caress the back of both of Jian’s hands with her thumbs. Keeping her eyes locked on her young companion still holding the gentle smile to try her best to ease Jian’s fear. “Don’t worry i’ll start small and gradually increase it, that way we can minimize or stop anything harmful from occurring”. Taking a bit more time to ease Jian’s worries she returned her thumbs back below the smaller girl’s hands. “Alright I am going to begin. Try to relax, though while I can see mana, please tell me if you feel anything odd or possibly dangerous”.

Breathing in and softly exhaling, Bleuenn began pouring her mana into Jian’s left palm. Watching the flow of magic carefully she pool a tiny bit of her mana into the middle of Jian’s palms. Compared to her own mana Bleuenn’s was clear, pristine and controlled. As more collected the feeling of a cool almost refreshing feeling ran along Jian’s palms. The cool smoothing feeling quickly began to wash over and override the electric tingling with it’s own menthol like chill. With everything seemingly going fine on her end Bleuenn glanced at Jian to see if anything was amiss before moving on to the next step. Pushing the cold but soft feeling past Jian’s palms and through her body, the smoothing feeling encircled and intertwined with her own less than conforming or comforting magic. Rushing throughout her body, Bleuenn’s chilling but relieving mana started to elevate Jian’s own. The tingling and constricting feeling eased slightly as if her mana circulation was inflamed or cut off by an unknown allergen.

“Half breed…. Cursed Blood”!
“Get away from her”!
“You should not exist”.

“Bleu, don’t let anyone or listen to what other’s say”.
“Your better than all of them don't listen to what they say"!
Leave me alone”!
I’ll kill you”!

Whispers, visions, flashes moments of what seemed to be Bleuenn’s past began to slowly crawl their way into Jian’s mind. The more the witch’s mana flowed into her the more intense the feelings and visions became. At first Jian would simply be but a outsider looking into a projection of a young Bleuenn playing and laughing with her grandfather. Though the boundaries soon began to fade as she would become a spectator looking to Bleuenn feeling hate and disgust at the very idea of something like her being allowed to live among them. Then fellow the woman herself as she lashed out and attacked a group of kids with her magic in to defend herself from their words and attacks. Despite the pain, fear and hatred that welled deep within Bleuenn; a strong sense of self and a wish to prove herself right and the others wrong shone through the darkness in her heart. A desire to protect and care for and…. A jolt or desensitization rushed throughout Jian’s body. The connection had been cut and the remaining mana within her was not strong enough to speak more on it’s master. Water, wetness could be felt along the top of the Outworlder’s hand as the smoothed ice covered hands off Bleuenn left her.

Facing the cave wall Bleuenn muffed and tried to stop her sobbing while wiping the loose tears that so brazenly acted out against her. “...... How…. do”. Choking on her own words her throat tightened as more and more of her memories and feelings flooded through her once again. Clenching her teeth and wrapping her arms around, she tried to hold back not only her feelings, but the knowledge that Jian had seen not only what she truly was but her innermost thoughts and feelings that no one but her and her grandfather knew of.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Thu Jul 15, 2021 5:37 pm

Nodding along as Bleueunn softly touched the back of her hands and began to narrate what she was doing, Jian felt slightly weird. It wasn't too close of a touch, but the lightness and serene smile the other girl had made her feel uneasy. However, she concealed these emotions and paid attention as Bleueunn went on to describe what was happening. "Sounds good," she murmured faintly as the other girl told her she was going to begin, and Jian assumed that the other magic user would be able to understand if anything was going wrong with the process, judging by how she reiterated that she could see mana. Once again nodding, Jian prepared herself by taking a few breaths. Then, she watched as Bleueunn began to let a stream of mana fall into her hands, giving her a strange, cooling feeling as though she was dipping her hands in cold water. Sparks felt like they wanted to fly along the tips of her fingers, but they were stifled as the chill pushed them down.

Jian shuddered slightly as Bleueunn moved her mana into her body, goosebumps rising on her skin as she tried not to wince at the odd sensation. While it wasn't exactly painful, it was slightly disturbing in a way that agitated her. However, she said nothing and waited as it curled around her own magic, eventually bringing the high energy chaos of her nature down to a more soothed tone. Relaxing slightly, Jian stared at her hands from the outside and wondered how this type of procedure functioned. Perhaps she would have to do some research later, although she disliked the prospect.

Just then, her inner musings were interrupted as her mind's eye began to be bombarded by small flashes, images of a much younger Bleueunn. The small girl appeared to be playing with a much older man, probably her father or grandfather. It was a beautiful scene, at least, until strange sensations of negative emotions began to seep into the visions. Jian resisted the temptation to tune out everything completely, as was within her power as the master of her own mind and body. Over the years, she had perfected the ability to maintain sovereignty over her own sense of self and inner eye. At times like these, even if a part of her wanted to completely wipe away all traces of another person's consciousness inside of her head, she had an inkling that these memories were important. Paying close attention, Jian saw how Bleueunn was treated by only children and how she had responded. The same emotions that had overtaken the other girl at that time also reached Jian, and she felt a strong pity that was at odds with the determination of Bleueunn and her immense want, or rather need, to prove herself. As the emotions continued playing like a reel, the feed was suddenly cut off, and Jian winced. It was as though she had been struck by a mini lightning bolt.

She pulled her arms away from Bleueunn even as the other girl was removing her icy hands as well. Although she was not the most empathetic of people, Jian still had very much real emotions. Thus, as the other girl began to visibly wilt in a way, crying as she turned away from Jian, she wasn't sure what to do but still felt a bit bad. "Do you... want a hug?" Jian awkwardly tried to put her arms around Bleueunn slowly, leaving her time to push her away or tell her to stop if she didn't want a hug after all. It just seemed like with how the other magic user was wrapping her arms around herself that she was partially trying to hold herself together and also self soothe or block out the bad things. Something like that. Truly, Jian felt like she had intruded on something very private, but she hadn't exactly had a lot of control over the situation.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Sat Jul 17, 2021 12:11 pm

Slowly losing the battle to her feeling her tears began to freeze into teardrop like crystals adding yet another sight and sound as the frozen tears shattered once they hit the cave’s floor. Cold branched out from Bleuenn freezing the floor and area around her the more she fell to her feelings. Reliving and feeling everything over and over again was too much for the ice witch and was about to lose herself, until Jian’s question cut through her death spiral of feelings.Do you want a hug? a hug, hug, want hug, love, warmth.. acceptance? The phrase continued to repeat and twist in Bleuenn’s head, halting the ice and cold that was beginning to form around her. Responding to Jain with a mere shake as she still attempted to muffle herself in an attempt to hide her feelings even though she had shown far more than sound could ever accomplish. Feeling Jian’s small arm wrap around, completing the connection with her hands causes the ice and cold to recede. With the loop cut, reality and Bleuenn’s consciousness once again took the reins.

Taking a bit of time to further collect herself she looked to the small hands now placed on her. Putting her own on top of Jian's while she thought about everything that had happened. I lost control yet again just like that last time, however unlike the last time I had someone here to help instead of exacerbating my pain. Removing her hands from Jian's, she gave the outworlder’s hands a light pat as to say that she was now fine. Taking a deep breath she had felt not only relief but a small sample of what she wanted for her and other hybrids.

Thank you, Jian”. Not adding anything else, Bleuenn simply let the moment be what it was as questions and explanations can wait for a moment longer as her remaining tears fluttered away as bits of snow.

Turning around to face her savior, Bleuenn had mixed feelings about what had just occurred and was unsure on how to continue. However, her feelings could wait as the whole action was to see if she could help Jian. “I know you have many questions but first let me apologize for the unforeseen side effects. I should have known, considering how closely magic is tied to feelings and ourselves that something like that might have happened”. Even though she had shared many things that she did not wish to share with even those she was closest to. Bleuenn could not help but to feel a bit of excitement at the prospect of discovering not only a treatment for Outworlders, but possibly a bonding or memory exchanging spell. Forgetting herself once again she focused back onto Jian as her magic fascinations got the better of her. “How is your mana now? Is there any improvements, oddities, anything at all I can only see so much, but you no yourself far better than I”.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Jian Mon Aug 02, 2021 4:11 pm

There was no real response to her verbal question, and as she watched Bleueunn shake miserably, she couldn't comprehend a physical answer, either. The other girl did seem to accept her tentative embrace, and after a moment her quivers slightly abated. Jian stayed extremely still as Bleueunn's hands enveloped her own for a brief moment before the other mage pulled away with a softly reassuring pat. It did not work. Jian was in no way, shape, or form reassured in the slightest. Whatever had happened to Bleueunn just now was extremely concerning. However, in the face of Bleueunn's quiet thank you, she had nothing to add and could only nod vaguely. Sure, the other girl was welcome. She guessed?

When it came to accepting apologies, she had a much easier time with that. "It's fine. We knew there would be risks," she waved it off, a bit more at ease with this situation. All throughout her lifetime, Jian had taken calculated risks, one by one. Sometimes they succeeded, sometimes they failed. She never truly put her life or freedom in danger, and she was almost always ready to flee at the sight of an unbeatable foe. That was simply her nature. This scenario had posed a possible threat, but the side effects weren't actually that detrimental to Jian in the end. It had been Bleueunn, she thought, who had suffered more apparently. Well, if the other girl insisted that she should have known better, Jian wasn't exactly in a position to refute that kind of claim. Still, she felt it was unnecessary to self-flagellate for so long. "I wasn't harmed in any way, so you don't need to feel guilty at all," she finally said, trying to end the self-pity that might have enveloped her new acquaintance.

Catching the drift of moving on to more concrete magical talk, Jian listened as Bleueunn began to inquire about her mana flow. As far as she could tell, it felt sedated slightly, calmed in her veins. Perhaps it was the cold temperature even now but her power felt sluggishly chilled as it circulated throughout her body. "I feel cold," she said plainly, "I think it's my mana." Really, she wasn't sure. It had never necessarily been a recoiling force- only when she tried to actually use her magic. Otherwise, it tended to lie beneath the surface of her skin with coiled power and energy, waiting to strike in a chaotic and rather painful mess. Perhaps she should try to use it again. That decision wouldn't come lightly, though, and she dared a glance at Bleueunn first to see her response to the query. "I can blast another snowdrift and see if my fingers bleed," she blinked questioningly.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Post by Bleuenn Bosser Fri Aug 06, 2021 7:20 pm

A crook of a smile broke through Bleuenn upon hearing Jian’s pragmatic response towards her apology. “Yes, I did say that there were risks and yes it seems like I did not cause you harm which was my first concern”. Releasing a halfhearted chuckle as while whatever had occurred did not seem to harm Jian, what had occurred as well as what may occur still bothered Bluennn greatly. “However, we cannot ignore what was shared between yourself and I. Hopefully the memories will fade with time. If so I request that you forget what we shared here today as those are not only very personal, but a danger to someone, no something like me”. Casting her eyes down the hybrid thought back on how she was and had been treated.

Moving on and hopefully leaving her past and feelings to herself; yet part of her mind still focused on the possibility of unknowingly creating a link or bond between herself and Jian. The more Bleuenn scraped the idea in the back of her mind the more she realised that she had a better understanding of the woman before her.

Pondering more, the word cold bounced and multiplied within her mind until she finely released that the thought was not of own, but an alarm continuously ringing within her mind to remind her to focus on Jian and not her own concerns at the moment. “Cold… cold? Oh cold”! Snapping out of her daze, Bleuenn focused on Jian apologetically. “Cold? your mana? That sounds like the mana I shared with you is attempting to either adapt or take over and convert your own…. Hopefully the first, but I doubt that even if the second was true, there is not enough to accomplish its goals”. Pausing as her words and plain response to something no doubt troubling to most hit her; hastily peering at Jian’ mana once again Bleuenn made sure that Jian and her mana was still her own. With her eye’s giving off an ethereal glow she focused on her examination, holding back on answering Jian as she wanted to make sure everything was okay. “ A small test to see if there is an improvement or not. Though I doubt there will be anything drastic or even a change at all”. Following Jian’s mana circulation it appeared as if her own mana and Jian’s were momentarily bound together. “Thankfully it seems neither and more importantly the second theory seemed to be correct. Instead the mana I passed onto you seems to be acting as a support calming the more chaotic aspects of your mana. Now I am not sure, but I think this is temporary and once you expend enough mana it more than likely will return to how it was before or perhaps it may retain a bit more control from this experience”. Dispersing the mana from her eyes the glow would fade as Bleuenn returned her gaze back to Jian face rather than her body while trying to hide a bit of excitement at the possibilities. “In any case, yes once again let’s try a small test”!

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

It appeared that Bleueunn had numerous deep set issues to deal with. Jian could tell now that she was not as concerned with the other girl's safety, which was a slight relief. However, her intense aversion to sharing her memories was something that Jian understood. While she felt awkward addressing it, she did not share Bleueunn's hope that the newfound insight she had gained into this other girl would fade with time. The way that Bleueunn called herself a thing and moreover corrected her establishment of herself as a person left Jian slightly peeved. It was only her innermost thoughts that felt this annoyance, though, and the majority of her feelings towards the situation were comprised of shock and pity. Imagining herself to be somewhat a future version of Bleueunn, Jian could understand the sensation of being constantly reminded of a lower station in life. No matter what others tried to force one's place to be, though, she had always taken pride in her knowledge of who she was as an individual. With any luck, in the future Bleueunn could overcome whatever barriers she had with herself and her nature.

"I will respect your personal life," Jian answered succinctly. If they were indeed to be traveling together to AURA, then she did not want to create any discomfort between them beyond what had already occurred and could not be undone. When the conversation topic turned back to her mana flow and the experimentation they had done, she refocused in on that prospect. "I am not too concerned with the second myself, either," she tried to reassure Bleueunn, as she seemed prone to worrying. Although, judging by what she had said, Bleueunn knew that the second was highly unlikely given the small portion of mana involved. That was a relief. Jian didn't think she could stand to go around giving out any more hugs (or attempting to) than she already had today.

Knowing that her mana was now rather calmed did not do anything to take the edge off of Jian's own personality that her powers tended to imitate. She watched as Bleueunn's eyes began to faintly glow. Jian would not pretend to understand what exactly was happening, but she could take a guess based on how Bleueunn was speaking. It appeared that she was relaying her observations from that mana gaze out loud. Although this situation was temporary, it was still a strange one. They would need to test some of these theories indeed. Whether or not the effects would have a lasting impact could probably not even be determined by a great many tests today, since that would require some time to pass to understand. "Okay. Outside, then?" Even if the environment around them was rather harsh, Jian felt like it would be a more prudent decision to venture out in the open to begin throwing around magic. Rising to her full height, she glanced at the snow covered entrance. Bleueunn had managed practicing on a flat tundra somewhere below them, but in order to get there, they would have to leave this cave and the fire. For now, she decided there would be no harm in trying a small zap on the snow blockage. Directing her fingers toward it, Jian felt a crackle of electricity arc through her palms and knuckles until it reached the tip of each digit, exploding in a red jet of energy. There was no beads of blood emerging from her skin, nor did she fell pain at using her magic. The underlying uncomfortable sensation of her magic, whose nature was already rather unsteady and untamable, still remained. However, that part, Jian thought, was not so easily changed. It had nearly become an intrinsic part of her powers after arriving here in this world.

"Better, I think," she said as she peered at the results. Bleueunn could give her own, more expert opinion on it, and then maybe they could go somewhere the other girl considered more apt. Earlier she had thrown a small fuss about staying up here in such flagrant monster territory, after all.

A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu) Empty Re: A Wintery Chill (Jian, Bleu)

Giving a slight nod at Jian at both her question and her promise to dismiss the thought and feelings she had so carelessly passed onto Jian. “Yes I think that is best as the members of Aura would be far more knowledgeable than I on someone like yourself”. Trying her best to move on and change the subject, however Bleuenn’s best currently was awkward at best and painfully obvious alongside the awkwardness at worst.

Outside? Yes, going to Aura would require us to leave”. Confused by Jian’s words for only a moment as her eyes shifted to the wall of snow she made and completely forgot about as her mind was focused on Jian and then a mix of fear, distrust and gratitude if Jian was true to her word. “Ah… yes right.. the wall”. Raising her arm alongside Jian’s, Bleuenn’s eyebrow furrowed as she focused on the other woman’s hand. Lowering her arm and peering into Jian’s mana pool yet again; Bleuenn stood by and watched to see her work put into practice. As Jian focused her mana into her finger, Bleuenn examined the flow of mana as it traveled to the woman’s finger. Unfortunately her third theory seemed to be the correct one as Jian’s magic was still as erratic as ever. However, the implementation of her own mana acted as a guide and a barrier reducing the damage and discomfort that Jian normally felt upon the use of her magic. Following the small bolt of magic as it came into contact with the wall making a barely audible buzzing noise reminiscent of a short circuit or a blown fuse as it harmlessly dissipated across the snowy wall.

With the test finished Bleuenn’s eyes lost their glow while Jian spoke of how the use of her magic felt ‘better’. Unsure of how to go about telling Jian, Bleuenn focused on her snowy wall; disappointed in her inability to help and angered by how her deepest emotions and memories were given away for nothing. With a deep breath she faced Jian trying her best to hide her disappointment and concerns. “Better, but temporarily just as I thought. Sure the mana I introduced into you may be able to counteract and act as a cushion to fight back and focus your mana for smaller spells, but what about larger more complex magic”? Rubbing the side of her head as the thought of the damage Jian could cause to herself built and weighed down on the many other thoughts and concerns that were already breaking her mental back. Sighing, she looked back at Jian. “I would highly suggest refraining from using your magic as we do not know the damage it will cause. I will make sure to keep you safe as we travel to Aura”. Taking her bag Bleuenn stepped towards the wall placing her hand against the cold frozen over snow. “Tell me when you're ready, as I know you're not one for the cold”.

Jian restrained herself from speaking up about the state of her magic. To be quite honest, she couldn't see it herself in the same way that Bleueunn appeared to be able to understand what was going on inside her body's circuit. Instead, she simply nodded when the other girl told her she ought to probably avoid using her magic for now. Trusting Bleueunn to protect her, Jian observed as she raised her hand to the barrier. "Ready," Jian murmured, prepared for the next stage of their adventure to begin.
