Kyr is a no-nonsense woman at first glance. She’s lived for centuries, of which over half hunted down and feared by the populace of her previous world. She’s cold, calculated, knows exactly what she wants and will not show any mercy to anyone who stands in her way; killing was never a last resort for her but rather a means to an end. Even in her doing she showed her thoughts of how life was but a fleeting thing, and that she cared little for shortening it, or downright severing it if need be. And although time has come and gone, eliciting change in this mindset through the help of a certain individual, Kyr cannot deny that these darker parts of herself still linger deep within her. Sometimes they stir -and she knows it-, dangerous thoughts that could thwart any chance at regaining a shot at a proper lifestyle if they ever were to surface.
Yet despite this fear she tries to make the best out of being able to start over with a clean slate in Vyldermire, where no-one knows of the past she’s all but proud of. She’s still wary of the people of this world, unable to read them nor knowing of any possible prejudices they might harbor, she treads around them ever so lightly, until her guts allow her to reserve some trust for them. The guts and instincts being the only thing she dares to fully rely on, unlike the words of this world’s inhabitants. Only when she fully starts relying on them will she allow herself to be more relaxed, mayhaps even playful when fully trusting, allowing slivers of her old self to surface once more. To those she calls her friends she’ll bolster an extremely protective demeanor towards, and would even resort to sacrificing herself in their stead had the situation ever call for it.
Although the Otherworlder has the ability to remain rational and collected in the most dire of situations, there always remains a sense of ferocity in her being; especially so in the things she’s passionate about. She’s curious but taken aback by the novelty of Vyldermire, leaving her to bide her time and observe before interacting with others, oftentimes leaving her with an air of nonchalance or making her seemingly uncaring of the things that happen around her. She waits, and if fate is willing, it will grant her the chances she needs to flourish.
Contrary to her usual demeanor, she does have a select few things that make her break out of her icey charade almost immediately. Easily flustering the forced-to-be Demonata will give her a hard time to get back in character, and witnessing light shows or sceneries make her mask drop instantly, having an almost childlike interest in it, much like her guilty pleasure does. Said guilty pleasure are fairy tales, myths and stories of old; which she loves learning about, retelling and sharing with others. More often than not she can be found animatedly recounting her tales to smaller children or those willing to hear her out.
Despite everything she's been through Kyrenai's still surprisingly gullible when it comes to love and romance, often fantasising about the what ifs and if only’s. She’s however grown extremely careful of showing her feelings of affection, especially after finding out that the one she sacrificed everything for to rescue found new love in this world. Being abandoned by her soulmate has left her dwindling, trying to drown away the pain with alcohol more than once, much to her own dismay, as her drunken self has a lot less tact and rationality to spare, and a whole lot more affection and boundary-breaking to give. Now she’s been left in a strange new world all alone, without any of her former powers and a shattered heart, Kyrenai has chosen to shift back into viewing life as if she were but a bystander and not actually part of it. Afraid of trying to enjoy the life given to her, in case someone would hurt her once more, or worse still; betray her like the ones in her past have done.Extra: After getting in touch with her magic again, small firefly-like orbs of light will spontaneously pop up around her, resonating with her inner emotions, acting and reacting upon them. Their color and glow may change depending on her mood and the intensity of her emotions, oftentimes betraying what she truly feels, even when she tries to act otherwise.History: Before Kyrenai arrived at Vyldermire, she hailed from another world. As in even before having arrived in said other world; where she didn't have a choice with the previous when she arrived from Earth, she did have when she broke her way through space and time to be summoned to Vyldermire.
Originally Kyr came from a mortal world, where magic and all things fantasy were literally that; fantasy. Beautiful webs of one's imagination either put into word or unto film or paper, but never to be a real thing. She doesn't quite remember how things went when she first disappeared; gone but for what seemed years to her, yet only days had passed in reality. Amnesia, doctors figured. But when she disappeared again, no trace were to be found. Instead she was transported to a new world, in which she gained a new role to play with a new destiny to fulfill. That of a hero. And with it a nemesis was created, her exact image forged from all her bad qualities, all her sins, and all the evil she could possibly become. Alas, this world looked cruelly upon the stereotypes of good and evil, granting each individual a specific way to attain their power. For Kyr -unbeknownst- her power would grow exponentially, but at the cost of other people's lives. More precisely, the people she was meant to protect. As a hero she was also a Guardian, a guide for other people that came from her world. Her duty to bring them back ti the portal safely so they could return home. In the beginning she held little power, and as no-one had told her about her duty, many people died under her supposed watch. Hundreds. Thousands of Otherworlders she had been supposed to guide but never even met. Some she met, made friends with in the hope of teaching them about this world. Hoping to escape with them and return home, but as her power was lacking, they all met the same fate. Her power grew, but misinformed about its origins she thought she was gaining magic from the world itself in an effort to right her wrongs. To protect properly. Until she beared witness to a group she'd been meant to protect, only moments away from reaching the portal they were wiped out by her nemesis. And suddenly she had their power stored within her. Her darker self explained her the true reason she gained power; how it stroked against the rules of her guardianship. How the Otherworlders that died here turned up dead in their respective worlds as well. That the world hated her for granting a hero such a blessing while she
, the true villain, grew stronger from healing people.
Her realisation brought grief, and Kyr vowed to never bond with any of her charges again if they were to appear. In an act of vengeance Kyrenai deserted her true name and named herself Kyrenai Artanis. She learnt to get over the loss of people so their deaths would harm her less, until they no longer affected her at all, refusing mortal connections, and in her twisted mindset she vowed to do anything in her power to make her darker self and the gods of this world pay for it. So she sacrificed even more Otherworlders, purposely leading thousands of them into danger for years to come so she could grow stronger, until there was no equal to her might.
Yet when a new group appeared, Kyr found herself unable to do continue. Because the people that stood before her were none other than her friends; friends from real life, friends online, all gathered before her, none any the wiser of who she was. And she kept quiet about it, acting as she was actually supposed to. For the first time in thousands of years she hesitated, her resolve dwindling as she now used everything in her power to keep them from harm. She was successful in bringing them to the portal, and made the ultimate sacrifice so they could succeed. A special ability that would temporarily amplify her power, but at the cost of having herself erased once the boost ended. Erased from the world she came from, from the memory of everyone she ever knew as if she never existed, and from this world, to be known as the true enemy. For loneliness was the payment of her power.
The worlds were reset. Earth would've never known of her existence, her deeds and influence erased, replaced by others. And in this world she was the purest of evil, her Otherworlder status and guardianship nulled as she now technically no longer came from another world. She just 'was'. With her original self erased and her deeds forgotten, all that remained was her overwhelming power and the reputation of a ruthless killer. Now a pariah, Kyr set out to carve a new path for herself and turned towards the evils of her darker self, destroying everything they had built, and in the process enslaving the demons she had under her control. Defeating her nemesis meant fusing with the evil she represented as well, and becoming ‘one’ again; willingly taking on the moniker of evil the world had already deemed her as. With the fusion Kyr’s appearance turned more demonic, manifesting as her new ‘true’ self. And with all evil, heroes were sent to defeat her. But all were beaten down, too weak to stand a chance. Yet not all of them were as blind to her actions when confronting her, realising she never slayed any of the ones that challenged her. How she kept the demons in check so they wouldn't venture out and tarnish the mortal realms. A rare few realised the contradictions the world had given them and joined her cause instead, helping her keep the evil in check by becoming said evil. Gatekeepers for every tier of demons, to patrol the territories they roamed and scare anyone who dared enter away, as well as keeping these demonic creatures in check. To the outside world they’d been corrupted by evil, but for them their watch had only truly begun. For Kyr however, it was just the start of her eternal retribution.
Years went by, dozens, hundreds of years, where she saw her allies replaced by newer ones as life took them from her. And with every change of generation she grew more dull to the mortal relations humans had, for time could not claim her. Her existence and the fear the world once had for her had become a myth to many, and she just lived, hoping that one day she’d face someone strong enough that even she would finally know peace. Yet when that time came, and she was faced by a warrior like none other, she was given the same kindness she’d given her own challengers… life. The stalemate between this warrior and herself ended after a clash that lasted for days, the warrior emerging victorious, but not ending her life out of mutual respect. From that respect an unlikely friendship blossomed, which in turn grew into something more. Something so strong that Kyr tried grasping back to her almost forgotten mortal emotions. However Kyr had something the warrior did not have; eternity. So when their time came Kyr offered some of her power to the dying warrior, and a promise that she would find them again in the next life. And so a cycle started, where Kyrenai roamed the world in search for their next life, and watched over them as they grew. Tell them stories of their previous lives as if they were fairy tales, and falling in love all over again. The warrior reincarnated many times, and every time their form would differ; men, women, genderless at times, beast, eldritch or human, but always mortal. Until the gods decided to interfere again. She felt it when her gifted power returned to her, meaning that her soulmate was no longer present within this realm. In a fit of desperation Kyrenai drew upon all her power and tore a rift through time and space, draining herself of all her magic as she ventured through the rift, into the void that would transport her to the world her lover was taken to. - Romance || Be it books, stories or candlelit dinners, she secretly enjoys all things romantic, but doesn't mention it.
- All things fluffy || Who doesn't like fluffy things?
- Story-telling || Myths have always intrigued her, and she loves telling about them as well.

- Orbs of Balance || Small light particles that manifest at random after she attunes with her magic again, and enjoy reacting to her inner emotions. They often show her real feelings when she doesn't want them to be known, and has cursed the things quite a few times because of it.
- Being taken for granted || She sacrificed everything for her loved ones, only to be tossed aside. As such, this has become a pet peeve to her.
- Betrayal || Betrayal has been something she never took very kindly to; she's had her fair share and will lash out against those who go lightly over the matter.
- Rejection || Something that's prone to leave her shaken and frail when it's used against her. It's a weakness easily dragged to the forefront, and one of the few things she can't seem to keep a straight face about.
- Succulents || Ugh. Succulents.
Coming to terms with her soulmate having abandoned her, and having to start a new life in a world she knows nothing about, she wishes to learn how to interact with people once more, make friends and lasting relations she may depend upon, and to find the right means to reconnect with her lost magic in Vyldermire.Key Fear/Adversary:
Being rejected by society yet again, or to never find someone to ease the aching void of heartbreak within her. Kyr fears falling to the corruption stirring within her, and hopes to either overcome or embrace it in such a way that she doesn't fall back into her former destructive habits. However, remaining powerless and alone would truly break her.
