Leon A. Hoffman
MageGender / Sexuality:
Male / DemisexualAge:
Leon can come off as an especially intense person, and it doesn't help when he has a nasty face to match the passion. He feels deeply and takes things seriously. Sometimes, this intensity can come off as frightful or too passionate, and he will usually apologize for outbursts on topics he cares about.✵Brave:
A result of his upbringing, Leon is particularly brave. He can take risks, be stubborn, and quite courageous when someone is in need.✵Kind:
Even though he has the face of a thug and the build of a soldier, Leon is incredibly kind. He puts others before himself and tries to leave the place better than he found it.✵Aggressive:
Leon isn't the typical "giant with a heart of gold" as one might think he is. Even he has some sort of flaws. Leon is incredibly rigid, short-tempered, and lacks the skills to express his feelings in a way that can make sense and not feel hostile all at the same time. As a result, he's particularly aggressive. He knows what he wants, and if his actions and the few words he gives aren't enough, he becomes hot-headed and upset. He vents his anger physically and doesn't have a lot of patience with himself or others, which can often result in arguments or reprimands, even if they come from a good place.✵Individualistic:
Leon hates being indebted to people. He's self-reliant and tries his best to be as independent as possible. He may even come off as unfriendly or introverted because of this and doesn't make friends easily.✵Stern:
Leon can often appear as serious and unrelenting in both words and actions. Although he isn't a stick in the mud and has humor of his own, he takes things seriously and wants to be taken seriously as well. He's blunt, honest, and somewhat assertive.History
Before traveling to this world, Leon Hoffman was of an elite bloodline consisting of powerful mages born and bred to serve the "important people" of Bellum, a country in Earthland, his home. For generations, they trained and lived their lives to ensure the safety and well-being of their owners and devote their magical abilities to guarantee this. They were, essentially, a private military.
For years, Leon's parents had tried to hide the fact that their son was not only lacking in comparison to his siblings but never be able to live up to the family creed as he was. Even after mastering different arts of combat and martial arts, refining his understanding of the study of magic, and exercising his talents in other crafts, it was not enough for his family. When Leon turned eighteen, the age where most of their children would finally serve their respective owners, his magical ineptitude could no longer stay hidden from the rest, and was disowned and exiled by his Grandfather only after he had permanently scarred his face.
His life as a vagrant in the neighboring country, Fiore, was tough. Low wages in an expensive city only made it possible for him to keep his head above water. His only escape from his new life as the working-poor was a boxing ring, and it was also where he first met Percy Dagger. It was through fighting that they found each other, and it was through fighting that they developed a bond. Although misunderstandings made their relationship tempestuous at first, the two eventually found a friend in the other, and then a lover.
They were inseparable. Not even war between countries could keep them apart, and though they had lost many things in the war on the border and the battle they were left to fight within themselves after returning home, they found quiet happiness in their life together. After nearly a year of stormy nights and uphill battles, it felt as if the sun was beginning to peek through the clouds. Or, so they had hoped.
As life would have it, the sun was not quite ready to come up. When discovered by Percy's disagreeable family, who disliked the idea of homosexuality, a hit was sent out on Leon. Without the time to truly prepare for these tumultuous turn of events, he and Percy sprung through a portal straight into Hoptus Forest, a place to mark the end to their old lives and a fresh beginning to their new ones. Hard times have prepared Leon well for their current status and made it easy for him to leave his burdens and wounds behind in the old world, but is anyone ever truly prepared to navigate a whole new world?Likes: ✵Cooking:
Leon, while magically inept, is gifted in cooking. In fact, one might mistake his ordinary meals for culinary arts. It started out as an attempt to appease and impress his parents, but he later developed a true love for it, despite as embarrassed as he is about it. ✵Exercise:
Because of his upbringing, Leon is incredibly well-built. He exercises daily and doesn't feel quite "right" if he doesn't. His love and drive for exercise and athleticism work in tandem with his talent for cooking, allowing him to be particularly knowledgeable of dieting and nutrition so he can maintain his unit of a body.✵Art:
He's surprisingly... sophisticated. He isn't very good at painting, though. But, going to art galleries and museums isn't totally out of the question.Dislikes: ✵Debt:
Leon hates being in someone's debt. He doesn't trust that people have his best interests at heart and sees debt as a way of exploitation.✵Inactivity:
Leon hates being idle, inactive, or bored. He tries to occupy himself with something as a result.✵Violence:
He doesn't encourage or endorse violence, and yet it's one of the only ways he knows how to solve problems.Goal/Aspiration:
