AUBREY POMME BOUFFONT
Pompous, Pom-Pom, or PommieRace:
MageGender / Sexuality:
Basic qualities: Ambitious, hard-working, energetic, people-person, and enchanting.
Aubrey is unusual because of his neutrality toward most races and his endless supply of energy. One moment he is avidly producing avant-garde beauty trends, then he is sewing together teeny tiny dresses and crafting hats for residual dolls at the toy shop, and the next, he is about to fall violently from the heavens in a swirl of pretty silk ribbons. He maintains a rather sunny demeanor, mostly when around a massive crowd or a couple of good people, treating strangers like very dear friends he’s known forever. Of course, he knows when to respect the bubble that naturally comes with proper social distancing, but will purposefully overstep set boundaries when interested in someone or something.
The vivacious, frivolous artiste is like a fish swimming ever closer to a dangling hook, staying true to such old curious cat sayings uttered by the wise and proving true the consequences of his inquisitive nature. But from that quality alone stems persistence and a willingness to learn skills he probably never would have learned just sitting on his rump all day (he is never not doing something). That being said, he is a perfectionist, tyrannical-like when it comes to his own work, and won’t hesitate to throw his creations in a fire as he can get rather temperamental when things don’t quite go his way. His standard of perfection does not extend itself to the hard work of others as he is appreciative of their aspect of beauty and does not wish to subject the creative minds of others to the harsh criticism he exposes himself to daily.
He will still praise or simply express his opinion freely on almost anything, but can also read the room quite well as he will tone his very opinionated self down and perhaps simmer down if he finds his method of approach is received as unwelcomed. He frequently leaves no space for peace and quiet and is all-inclusive with anyone in his presence, not one to ignore company, then muses on trivial yet worthless things, like, wishing the moon could be made of cheese, which tends to drive sensible people away. Now, if that doesn’t do the trick, then he will occasionally cause individuals to feel insulted without realizing it. It could be his inability to hold back laughter during an awkward situation that calls for gentility and kindness. It could be that he finds something too absurd even for his tastes and will bluntly point things out, maybe even add a pinch of salt to the wound while at it. That is, until life slaps him in the face for it. History
Aubrey grew up as the content, cherished son of two enamored circus performers in Rivengate who was raised under favorable circumstances, with a most decent moral compass, consisting of the importance of diversity and making the impossible -- well, possible. He had what most consider a healthy and wholesome upbringing, never witnessing the struggles of divorce, domestic violence, or flagrant unfaithfulness. For as empathetic as he is, he will find it rather difficult to compute that ever being a possibility for others.
But possibilities of an almost otherworldly nature certainly marked him in just the right way in his youth, and that was the beauty of the Cirque des Reves and his father’s innovative toy shop, where he was exposed to the aesthetic allure of two very captivating worlds. From being lovingly lifted into the air by his silk-bound mother (former acrobat), and the next, bearing witness to his father’s phenomenal guest appearances at the circus and marveling at the fruits of his labor -- his innovative toy shop.
It was destined from the very start, Aubrey’s love of fashion and entertainment blossomed with all the vivaciousness of a desert rose, and all the wild standards the family circus might have indirectly instilled in him a dire need to be perfect and meticulous with his commodity. He practiced on dolls’ clothing, then quickly expanded toward more personable wear. From that, he developed a divine interest in beauty, cosmetics, and sheer avant-garde. Not caring much for the opinion of others, he will wear his otherworldly aesthetic like a tattoo and share it with the world. He only hopes that his extensive portfolio and efforts will take him somewhere grand and not quite so mediocre. Likes:
-Thimbles, thimbles, and more thimbles. The small, helpful pitted cup is something he cannot be without as it protects his nimble finger from being pricked or poked by a needle while sewing. He’s prone to such accidents and can often lead to his dramatic outbursts, which are either really embarrassing or hilarious to see. The best kind of birthday present? Thimbles. As he will lose his batch. Too often.
-Sebastian Alarie, a fashion idol and fantastic businessman, is known for his breathtaking genius. He probably wouldn't hesitate to give his right arm just to work for him and learn from him.
-He values his art and creativity and strives to stay true to his self-set expectations (and will go far and beyond for his passions). And in that same fashion, he should hope to make friends that strive to embrace him for all his imperfections and wild expectations as he will return the sentiment tenfold -- may it be as a friend or a lover.
-Music and singing may not be an extreme passion of his, but he does enjoy composing a ditty here and there. His father’s voice was otherworldly and beloved by the family circus, which inspired Aubrey to at least try singing. In the shower. With a strawberry-fruit cap on.
-He is quite fond of the moon, the stars, and anything related to the cosmos. He will sleep for a minimum of four hours every night as he likes to keep busy, but before resting he will always stop to admire the dark sky and fantasize silently about the future. He is a man of many dreams and ambitions.
-He quite loves his family and will often visit them. He credits his father for his talents and considers himself very blessed to have inherited his good looks. His folks, so plentiful and diverse, are very dear to his heart.
- Women. Women are just --- pleasing to the eye. Such pretty creatures. Dislikes:
- Negative, toxic people
- Messy workspaces
- His resting psycho face. He's honestly quite pleasant.
- Vampires, werewolves, and other intimidating races. He will try to be accepting, but his fear will cause him to believe in harmful stigmas when it comes to their kind. Goal/Aspiration:
What drives them?
What doesn't drive him? He is highly motivated by life and its lucrative opportunities. He wants to grow, make his own brand, and not have to rely on simply having 'connections'. Key Fear/Adversary:
What do they fear, alternately what works against them?
- Being paralyzed. It's horrifying for him because he is a man of action and energy. He does not know what staying still and doing nothing is or means.
- Certain species of people, for as open-minded as he is, scare him silly if they should potentially pose a threat for the human race.
- Carpal tunnel syndrome. Not being able to use his hands for his sewing, sketching, or applying makeup? He would be doomed to a life of utter despair. Art is all he literally knows!
