With an exaggerated sigh followed by a deep breath of air a Draconyte female would look once more about her surroundings. The city, Lyndon Port, was massive mismatch of buildings, and ports, and trade stalls. Everywhere she looked her amber eyes would fall upon a new sight, from a barker yelling about fish, to a woman running around selling flowers. All in all, it was impressive, and entirely different than what she was used to in Miriad which paled in comparison to the size, and trade.

The female herself stood surprisingly unimposing for a Draconyte, standing shorter than average (unless you counted her horns, which she certainly did), her short bob of hair would frame a delicate face with slitted amber eyes. She wore black shorts and stockings, with a red overcoat, and a formal-ish white shirt. For obvious reasons the clothing had a slit down the back, allowing her large wings the freedom they needed to rest. Poking from the back of her shorts one would see a draconic tail which would sway from side to side as the walked. The woman seemed oblivious to the stares, and side glances she received, and seemed to ignore any comments made towards her race.

In the distance she could make out the ports, a massive array of shipyards, and buildings, and trade halls. The Draconyte female however, had taken the first second she could upon arriving in the city to ditch her entourage and explore. After all, how was she to take in the measure of the other Nobles if she knew nothing about their city? At least… that is what Victoria Draconis told herself.

Her family had come to this city to have diplomatic talks with the local nobles about the acquisition of a fleet of ships, as well as, from what Tori gathered, the possibility of a friendship between the two houses. Truth be told, Tori had only been half listening with her Aunt Saphi explained their reason for the visit, and had already been planning her escape which had been almost too successful.

Now however she found herself near the docks, looking up to see a sign of what looked to be a tankard of ale. She could hear joyous laughter, and perhaps even music coming from inside. Wasting no time, she would enter the establishment finding herself at a rather pleasant looking tavern.

Cassian rarely needed an excuse to drink, but this was even more deserved than usual. He was in his least favorite place in all of Vyldermire. Home. It was like pulling teeth to get him to come back to Lyndon Port, where the nobles, the du Villanell's, more or less owned and ran the whole city. Everywhere he looked bore some reminder of the life he was trying to distance himself from. Most of what was here were only here due to his family, their ships, and their trading company's success. Even now, as he sat moodily at a dive bar off the main street, the bartender was treating him like royalty and fawning over him, refusing to charge him for his ale and encouraging the tavern ladies to make him comfortable. It wasn't that many years since he'd left, so most of the locals still recognized him no matter where he went. He thought his gloved hand might fall off from all the waving he was doing to ward off the leeches.

It was annoying.

They didn't treat him special because of anything he'd done. He'd just been lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family with a lot of power. It felt gross to just accept it and wallow in it without seeing if he was even worth all the hullabaloo. A suit, no matter how nice, was still just a suit. He looked like a million vyldergold right now at his mother's behest, dressed in a navy and pale blue fur-liked short coat buttoned over a perfectly white tunic tucked into some high-waisted pants of deep onyx. The gold accents on his black boots and coat were polished and gleaming. He stood out amongst the rowdy crowd warily partying around him, occasionally trying to buddy up to him to get in his good graces. Cassian, while normally quite the rowdy pub crawler himself, was in no mood for it. There was just something so hollow, so thin about getting special treatment only because of his last name. Dating here had been a nightmare. Between the politics, golddiggers, and fame mongers, nothing was real. There wasn't a single genuine thing in this town other than his mother, and even she had accidentally let it slip upon his arrival that the noble family visiting had an eligible daughter accompanying him. Thinking about it narrowed the one visible eye of pale blue while its twin remained hidden behind both his dark blue bangs and the black eyepatch beneath.

No amount of begging would get him to stay after that. It was a blatant trap he shouldn't have ever fallen for. The suave lad could be sunbathing back on Avalon Island right now instead of sitting peevishly in the back of the worn establishment. He'd already be on his way, but the ship that would take him back to Velvet Reign's HQ wasn't due into port for another few hours. Once back on the island he loved so much, he'd return to earning his own way and making his own worth, and it'd snow on the tropical vacation spot before he'd be tricked into going back to Lyndon Port.

If he could just survive shirking his family until the ship arrived, everything would end up just fine.

Tori would take in a deep smell of the establishments bustling atmosphere. She could pic up the sweet odor of honey mead, the sour tang of bourbons, and everything in-between. She could see people moving about her day, and hear laughter from one of the tables. The bartender on the far end of the room seemed pretty busy, and there seemed to be a collection of individuals near the bar a number of which were pretty ladies. They all seemed to be tending to some individual she could not get a good look at. Deciding that it really didn’t matter, Tori would adopt a smile, check to make sure her tail was clear of the door, and walk merrily into the room.

The atmosphere was intoxicating in itself, the people she saw all seemed to be differing stock, she saw things from dock workers, to shipping magnates, woman whom money drew, and someone she even thought might be a pirate. All and all it was exciting, and new, and she loved it. Sauntering over to the bar, just as she had been outside, she seemed to be all but oblivious to the strange looks, or occasional comment that was thrown her way.

It was unsurprising to the Hybrid Anthros, and it was certainly far from the worst she had been treated, but in a human city they probably did not get many of her kind, and add in the fact that many Anthros still held resentment, while many humans still held predujeses, it was all and all a disaster waiting to happen. To make matters worse, though she looked like a pure bred Draconyte, her size would betray her blood. She was far too small, near the height of an average human female, and as such there was little to no doubt that she had human blood as well. This meant, not only was she an Anthros, but she was a Half-breed, the lowest of the low… as far as many were concerned.

Tori would move her tail when someone complained that it had almost tripped them, a lie she knew for she had watched him trip over a chair, but she did so without complaint. She had learned long ago that with some people silence was better than anything else. It was strange, in Mirian she was used to being treated better for her birth, something she quite honestly hated. In some of the neighboring Human-Anthros cities her treatment would depend on if they knew her titles, here however where no one knew her face, she might as well have been a leopard. Though it might have been off-putting for some, Tori welcomed the change.

When she finally made it to the bar, she would have to make three too many ‘ehem’s to get the attention of the bartender. From what she could see, the man was much more interested in being on the far opposite end of the bar. In fact, where he seemed to intentionally ignore her, he seemed to dote on the man Tori had seen earlier. Now that she could get a better look she guessed the man was probably a wealth shipping magnate, perhaps the owner of a small fleet. He certainly wore clothes befitting one of finery. Though, even from a few paces away, she could tell that whatever his line of work might have been, it was not going well. Despite the obvious advances of the woman around him, and the doting of the bartender, he seemed to be content to stare moodily into his drink.

With a shrug Tori tried for the third time to get the attention of the bartender, this time finally succeeding in getting his attention. “I would love a honey mead please, something tasty maybe?” Victoria would ask, eying a barrel she saw behind the man which she knew had a particularly divine taste. The bartender, deciding to only grunt in her direction would take a moment to eye her up, as if looking at some vagabond whom had wondered into the establishment. She was far from low dressed, and though her clothes were not of the finest make, it would be obvious that she could afford the drink…

Still, it seemed it was for that reason alone the man decided to not kick her out then and there. However, she was dismayed to see him lean over and fill a mug with a mead from the bottom shelf, one whom she doubted had been treated well at all. When he set it on the counter, he intentionally pushed it away from himself, and that of the well dressed man and when he finally did spoke, his hand still on the mug as if to take it away in a moments notice, it was only to state the price he would charge her.

Tori would raise her eyes questioning, for the first time feeling a tinge of anger. The price the man asked for was three time that of a top shelf vintage, far from what it was he had poured her… still… Tori knew if she was going to sit through the dull affair that was diplomacy, there was no way she would do it sober, and she doubted she had much time till they came to look for her. After all, she had probably already missed the official announcement of their arrival, and the fanfare that would happen as they first met with the other house. She knew even with that it would be hours yet till the houses started on any actual conversations of business, first getting through the horrid necessities of nobility, and decorum.

With a sour face Victoria would reach into her pouch and grab the coins he asked for, setting them upon the table much to the bartenders surprise. “Keep them coming… I guess.” She would say, seeming obviously deflated, her mood almost now matching that of the well dressed gentleman.

It would be at that moment one of the more provocatively dressed woman would take the time to look at her, rather than the man whom attention she was trying to get. The woman would almost hiss, as if warning Tori. “What is someone like you, doing here?” she would ask, as if Tori’s very presence in a dive bar not made for her kind was sacrilege.

Meeting of two houses[Cassian] Empty Re: Meeting of two houses[Cassian]

Post by Cassian Sat Feb 20, 2021 12:23 pm

Though he stared moodily into his drink, he was far from oblivious to what was happening around him. If anything, he was hypervigilant, waiting for the family lackeys to track him down and try (and fail) to drag him back. From the change in tone in the bar around the entry of a particular customer, Cassian knew someone interesting and non-local had just arrived. It was enough to get him to raise his single blue eye, leaning to peer around the lingering women for a peek. Ah, so that's who it was. Even though his last bet about what someone was had been wrong, this was more clearly a hybrid. A hybrid Draconyte. If he had more than the money he snatched off the end table as he ran out the door, he'd have bet on her last name, too. What were the odds that the very reason for his mother's betrayal would stride into the same dive bar he was hiding in? An ironic smirk appeared on his lips and, though the idea of her reason for being here was annoying, he was more than interested in watching her for a moment or two.

And what he saw just made more problems than it distracted him from. Really, why were people so...ugly. For a town full of every type of person from lands far and wide, it still had streets as unprogressive as this one? He'd have thought more of these guys, but then again, when he was usually here he was causing trouble instead of debating progressive ideas. Ugh, now he was gonna have to use his entitled power, as much as he hated it.

"Archibald," Cassian tutted, standing from his stool and pushing past the gaggle of giggling girls. He more firmly waved them off with a firmer glance, and this time they scattered throughout the dive like cockroaches in the light. He took the stool beside the small anthro, resting his hand in his palm as his elbow became a prop. His other hand slapped onto her gold coins before the man could snatch them, holding them hostage. Even though he held an easy smile, his eye was sharp. "Serving the lady the cheap slop and overcharging her? You'll never get a woman that way," he scolded, raising the hand on the coins to reach for the woman's mead instead. He handed it back to Archibald hard enough to spill a little on the bartender's apron. "I believe she said she wanted the honey mead, like what I have. It's okay, I know you just misheard her," he grinned, then turned his head to look at her. "I'm Cassian," he offered, his newly freed hand extending for a shake.

Archibald, about to trip over himself in embarrassment and terror, quickly replaced the drink with the stuff from the nice barrel. In the end, her first drink was free and most of the people became at least neutrally tolerant to her presence. Cassian, however, was no longer feeling the vibe. If this Draconis girl ended up being boring, he had little motivation to stay in this particular bar.

Tori would look towards the drink in front of her, ignoring the woman whom had spoken. With a almost defeated sign she would reach for the drink. This was far from the first time she had experienced such… hatred… and though she had learned to take it in stride, even to this day it would be disheartening. She shared her father and late brothers belief that one day a world would exist where Anthros and Humans, and perhaps even other beings could coexist. Though, having spent years training with the Noble Families Anthros Army, specifically preparing for a battle they worried would come again, she was used to striking back at such people… as such, her shoulder and fist would tense to anyone watching closely, but she would seemingly resign to the treatment.

However, the sudden sound of an unfamiliar voice would stop her hand in its tracks as it reached for her ‘drink’. Realizing, that there was suddenly a man next to her, one whom voice help obvious power would cause her to give a curious look. Realizing that it was the wealthy man she had seen earlier, she would crack a surprised, but pleasant smile.

As his hand touched her coins she would raise a curious eye, and listen to the conversation, if it could be called that, with interest. Though, she would quickly realize it was far better to call it a chastising. As his hands forced her drink back into the other mans hands, she would crack a grin. “Oh, that makes much more sense Archi. Thank you so much.” When she spoke, using a falsified honorific to the bartender her smile would be almost venomous, before turning much more genuine as she took the blue haired man’s hand.

“Tori.” She would say simply, before attempting to place half the coins into his hands. “I am sure you don’t need them, but I feel I owe you for saving me the… hassle.” Whether or not he took the coins, she would not fret. Before anything else she would take a deep draft of her drink.

“Now that hits the spot.” She would say, much more merrily than she had been before. She would then look towards the man, and get a measure of him. He was cute, that was certain, and he seemed to not care about what she was, which was a major bonus. He also did not mind stepping in for those in need, which was nice. And, once more he was cute which of course helped matters.

“So, I take it that you are a local? What can you tell me about this city, it seems so… interesting, and I would love to know what one does for a good time.” She would speak with a measured pace, elegantly, but with a bit of force. She was by no means common born, but also seemed unsure how to address someone she seemed to believe had either more standing, or more money. She was not usually a talker, and more of an actor, so she was happy to push her stool in a bit getting closer to the man, and take another drink.

Meeting of two houses[Cassian] Empty Re: Meeting of two houses[Cassian]

Post by Cassian Sun Feb 21, 2021 12:37 pm

Most men wouldn't have taken any money off a woman for such a thing whether they needed it or not, but Cassian wasn't most men. He did need it, so he'd take it. He'd come here because he'd made a critical error in his spending this month and needed rent money, which his mother was more than happy to slip him if he showed up to this meeting. Well, now he was effectively poor because his dignity was of more worth than having an expensive roof over his head. In fact, the infuriating woman had deprived him of VG right now, since he could have been doing quests right now instead of being miserable in Lyndon Port. Cassian gladly accepted her offering, pocketing it. Since he appeared to be abusing his privilege today, he might as well go full hog and accept free drinks, too. Fleuve'ir knew he needed them.

Tori, as she was called, asked about the city reeking around them. "Ah, yes, this grand city of commerce and ships," he said with a flourish, though there was a bite in his voice. "It's a cesspool where you can find any manner of thing to spend your money on, legitimate or not. I heard the nobles here were real pieces of work," he explained from his relaxed position, nursing his own honey mead once he stopped speaking.

It was funny. As he looked her over as nonchalantly as possible, he took note that her aesthetic was opposite his. She was the fire to his ice. Those warm-hued scales, eyes, and hair, she the antithesis to all his blue hair, eyes, and clothes. Anthros and Hybrids weren't particularly strange or exotic to him anymore, since he spent most of his time in the Free Lands. Velvet Reign's HQ was situated on the holiday island where he entertained all kinds. She was dressed more nicely, though. She had a nice face, amongst other desirable assets. Considering she was a noble, though, she wasn't a clean getaway. Part of him mulled it over if it mattered...

"I used to be a local. I moved a few years ago to the Avalon Islands, but I come back every now and then to collect what I need," he smiled at her, unable to keep himself from turning on the charm. Even if his mood was in the gutter, he couldn't possibly dump it all on this girl. Tori seemed like nice enough company, maybe it'd lift his spirits. Leaning a little closer as if he was going to tell her a secret, he'd answer her last question. "You can do almost anything you want here. There are more lively bars a few streets over, laid out for dancing. If you're into shopping, you'll find no finer array of choices for basically anything. You don't seem the type, but there's also a thriving market for... the less legal things, if you want to risk a trip under the docks. So perhaps a restaurant serving up finely prepared cuisine, instead?" he asked, tilting his head in his hand. Like her, his speech was on the higher class end of things, but he deliberately spoke more like a commoner. It was his preference and helped him blend in better. "Now, personally, when I'm bored I just start a brawl in one of these dingier places. It's so easy and good for at least a few laughs," Cassian added, mischief gleaming in his eye as he took a sip of his drink.

Tori was gladdened by the fact that he took the money, although she would not have insisted upon it, it told her a lot about the man, at least that is what she told herself. In her long life she had dealt with all kinds of men, and slept with most types. She had come to realize she preferred the ones who did not hold to some sort of false chivalry. Had he turned her down on principle, this night would probably not have been nearly as exciting, and had he turned her down due to honor then their conversation probably would have ended there. However, the fact that he took it meant he was, at least, reasonable, and more than a little exciting. Their further conversation would prove her assessment, though in a way even she would not expect.

As he spoke of the city, she would nod, not caring to look away paying specific attention to the bite in his voice, even more so when he spoke of the nobles. “Oh really? What can you tell me of the noble houses in the area, anything interesting?” Although she asked in a non-challont manor, she was more than a little interested in what the man had to say about them. If he was what he believed, then he had no doubt the man would have opinions. From what she knew, the noble family she was meeting today more or less owned the city and its ports. If he was part of that trade he might have even dealt with them directly, and that she decided could be valuable information she would be willing to pay a lot for.

Though she still kept a hand on her drink, other than the first two drafts her drinking itself would slow considerably. She had first come here to find distraction from her worries, and if she couldn’t do that to get tipsy so that the meeting would be at least somewhat tolerable. Now however, she considered missing it entirely. After all, between her father, his council, and the rest of the people they had brought with them what would her absence really mean? If her father had not come in person, then sure her being there as heir would be important, but he had come so even that did not matter.

When he said he had moved to Avalon islands her ears pricked up. She had been to the islands on a few spare occasions. Usually for pleasure, on some sort of vacation or another. Her family held no power there, but that did not stop her and her brother from enjoying their time there… when he still lived. For a brief moment her eyes would glance away as she sad thought crossed her mind. His passing had been so sudden, and so recent she still had yet to cope with it. Taking a deep drink once more she pushed the thought from her mind, and looked back at the man with interest.

“Oh, and what is that?” She would ask as he spoke charmingly, leaning into to meet him as he lowered his voice, she was curious what a man like him would need. His words would excite a part of her she had not given into in many months. Sense ascending to heir she had not had nearly the time she used to, and could no longer enjoy her vices. Not that she had ever been brave enough to truly step outside of the law, more that she would step beyond her reach as a noble, or more act in a way many would consider unbecoming.

“I’m not…” She would start out hesitantly, her face slightly red though from drink or uncertainty it would be hard to tell. She was not sure if she could do it, after all…she had more responsibilities now, and there were expectations. Still, his offer, if that was what it was, seemed enticing. It would not be the first time she had been in a bar fight, and truthful she thought she could use the distraction. He certainly spoke well, and though her next plans would be far from what was expected of a noble, she couldn’t help it. So long as he didn’t know who she was, and her family did not discover what she had done with him, they would both be fine.

“Oh, dancing you say… and a brawl… oh you do know how to tempt…” She would say in a whisper, as if sharing in his secret… still uncertain. She would look over and notice that the vultures were watching, and would once more wonder just who he was. A thought crossed her mind and she would lean in, putting her mouth to his ear, though her eyes would not leave that of the woman who had insulted her earlier. She had made up her mind… at least for now.

“It just so happens, I need the distraction… and, by what I saw earlier it seemed you do too. How about we get out of here, see what other… dingy escapades we can find… and… if we enjoy ourselves enough, I might even join you under the docks.” Though she doubted she would do anything illicit, at least nothing that would truly harm her reputation or that of her families, a bit of fun would be fine, and if needed she could leave the man should things get to be too… exciting.

As she moved away from him, though she never once touched the man, she would crack a final grin at the wench who had been so rude to her, and as she had expected, it was enough to cause a chain of reactions. The woman, furious over the fact that this man of power had not only blown her off, but proceeded to ignore her, then associate with the very thing she found beneath her was too much. In a huff the woman would storm off, slamming unto a table on her way out, causing a cacophony of noise as a number of clay plates and tankards would fall spilling their content. Tori would lean back, her draconyte features looking fierce in the low light, and she would wait to see what the man said, hoping he would answer before her resolve gave out.

Meeting of two houses[Cassian] Empty Re: Meeting of two houses[Cassian]

Post by Cassian Mon Feb 22, 2021 2:54 pm

"Oohh," he exhaled, eye still dancing with a devilish gleam, "she's fun after all," he said smoothly, becoming more interested in this little Anthro. He wasn't sure why he hadn't anticipated this equally tempting side of her, but who was Cassian to resist a good time when it presented itself? He watched as the most annoying of the women before took her leave in a huff, more than a little amused. "I wonder what could have ruffled her tailfeathers?" he asked coyly, as if he didn't know. In fact, he planned more. Standing from his stool, he offered Tori his arm, if only to infuriate all the rest of the women who had been barraging him with offers of company. He'd choose his own company, thank you very much. His taste was a bit higher on the shelf than they could manage. "Would you please accompany me into questionable places to stir up a little chaos? The day is too young to be bored and miserable."

Should she take his arm, he would lead her out onto the busy street. Even the side-streets were busy in Lyndon Port, and while it was crowded and noisy, that meant there was always some sort of entertainment going on. There was a fun place two streets over he'd lead her, a place that was less hostile to Anthros and Hybrids. It was a more progressive area, but also a bit more...chaotic. It was hard to explain, but it was the perfect place to find both dancing and brawling. "If you keep surprising me as you have been, I'll be more than happy to spill the beans about the du Villanells. Nothing in this city is free," Cassian smirked, pushing the black door to a darker bar open for her to walk through.

The music being played was louder and more lively. The scent of roasting coffee, booze, and smoke hung thick in the air. Most of the floor was open for dancing with worn tables lining the edges of the room for those who needed a break or just wanted to watch. There was probably more illicit things going on behind the thick crimson curtains closing off rounded alcoves here and there, but Cassian wasn't concerned with that. His focus was on the mixed crowd. There wasn't a swarm of bootlickers like the other place. There were a lot more Eldritch present, which was usually his key to starting some trouble. Now, Cassian had no problem with any of the races, but he knew just who to bump the wrong way to get what he wanted.

Also, the owner of Red Eye was an absolute tool. It would only be poetic justice if they happened to end up trashing the place.

"The good band is playing today. Feel that rhythm?" he asked, inhaling as if to absorb the atmosphere like a drug. "Shall we? If you fancy dancing, we should do that first... after more drinks?"

Upon hearing the swave mans comment towards her decision to jump into the unknown with him, she would but give a smile, crossing her legs as she downed the rest of her drink. “Who knows, I guess she tried to bite off more than she could chew.” Tori said with a half chuckle. As the man made his final offer, Tori would nod, standing up hesitating for but the briefest of moments before taking his arm.

As he lead them Tori would watch where they went, who they saw, and with whom they crossed. She was beginning to realize Lyndon port while large was not as large as she had first assumed, sure it was bigger than Miriad, but that was more due to the fact of trade and location she had come to believe. As they crossed the way, even though their walk was not very long, the hybrid-draconyte was able to make out the very real shift in the atmosphere, and with the people. As soon as they left the main roads, something she had not done previously, she saw more Anthro, and even a couple of hybrids which was a nice change.

It did not take long for Tori to decide her choice of company for the evening was well worth it. She knew from experience that to truly understand a place, you had to know its dark corners, and the dark corners told you a lot about those whom ruled a city, she herself had spent more than enough time among her families army learning that, before she had been forced to change her role.

Tori would turn her head as she heard Cassian speak, making her a promise to spill some secrets, should she be able to keep up. “I will hold you to that.” She would say coyly, taking the lead stepping through the dark interior of whatever establishment he had taken them to. It would be a lie to say she did not pause at the threshold taking in the sights.

Tori always considered herself a fun person, she would brawl, and drink, and joke with the best of them when she was part of the Anthros Forces. Her title, at least as far as she believed, meant nothing in those days, and sure she had gotten into trouble, but even she did not realize how much of a different beast this was. As her eyes scanned the room she would see Anthros, and Humans, and even… much to her surprise… the occasional Eldritch. Not, that she was against that, she had just never had much experience with the race in her life, though like everyone she had heard the stories.

Anyone watching would be able to see the hint of nerves that threatened to take her before suddenly subsiding as the hypnotic music and drug like atmosphere seemed to grasp the girl, drawing her in. “Drinks sound good.” She would say half paying attention, as her eyes still explored the denizens she was seeing.

Finding the bar had been an easy enough feat,  and while she would keep hold of Cassian, more to remind herself that she was not alone than anything, more than once some distraction or another would hold her attention for a few moments. One thing certainly stood out to her though… she was way over dressed, which was saying something considering whom she held in her arms. When they got to the bar, she would take a bit making her choice, before asking Cassian's opinion on ‘something strong, which works fast, to get them started.’ Wasting no time, she would down the drink with him, before taking on a playful mood and pulling him to the dance floor, should he be willing to indulge her, and well if he wasn’t she was sure in a place like this she could find someone who was.

Meeting of two houses[Cassian] Empty Re: Meeting of two houses[Cassian]

Oh, and indulge her he would. Sucking down an Avalon shot with his new lady friend, Cassian managed to down a second for himself just before he was pulled out onto the floor to dance. He went willingly, of course, retaining her hand to give her a cheeky spin before he released it to begin dancing. He had good rhythm and skill in dancing from all his noble dancing lessons, but of course, she wouldn't know that. It was the one thing he was thankful for but used mostly for 'evil' in the sense of picking up girls and showing off.

The tune being played was a lively one, roughly synchronized with the elevated heartbeat of the dancers. It was a shanty-type tune with the three singers harmonizing about tea and rum and adventure, while the hurdy-gurdy and acoustic guitar carried the melody and the upright bass and drums carried the body and vibrated through the floor for almost a warm feeling. Combined with the darkness of the room and the closeness of the bodies, it was a strange, chaotic, euphoric effect.

Cassian was particularly susceptible to the vibe of a place such as this. He was easily swept away by many things when it came to vices. He also wasn't one to have many personal physical boundaries with strangers, so he was completely comfortable dancing closely with the hybrid in the crowd of moving bodies. His hands weren't rude, but he also wasn't afraid of touching or bumping up against her as they danced, and his mood was clearly raised by the change in scenery. His one visible eye watched Tori with interest and nothing she did would go unnoticed. "Can you keep up, Tori?" he asked over the rabble just as the song they came in on ended, and a new, even faster one began.

Someone was weaving through the crowd with a tray of shots, which Cassian called over. He snatched one for himself and one for Tori. "Want one?" he offered, but if she didn't want it he was more than happy to knock it back.

Tori would quickly down the drink she had been offered, not even questioning what it was or what to expect. Though she couldn’t say she outright trusted the man, she did at least like him and as he had proven early he was kind to her, so he doubted there was any dubious plans afoot… at least non that she was not totally willing to follow.

As the liquid, an Avalon shot it had been called, slid down her throat she would give a warm smile, despite the half cough she held back. She would not partake in a second shot as her companion did, for she still wished to be able to stand when her guards eventually found her, but beyond that she was all game.

As they made it onto the dance floor she would give a nice melodious laugh as she was spun in his arms, her eyes would meet him and she would grin. Now, their game would truly begin. Like her companion she was a good dancer, and was very happy to see he could keep up. It was not that she didn’t like dancing with people who had not had her lessons, but there was something about the fluid exchange that came from a good partner that could only be beaten with the heat of battle, or the heat of the sheets. She herself having quite enjoyed the dancing lessons she had translated many of them into battle as a dual blades fighter, as such when she moved it was not necessarily ‘traditional’ but she used her entire body, sometimes pressing against the man, and other times intentionally being distant. Either way, she thoroughly enjoyed the time they were together, and was more than happy to keep their bodies close, more often than not.

She was happy to see that his dower mood had improved, and likewise her own frustration at her earlier treatment had all but disappeared. As the song sped up, she would meet his eyes and say nothing raising an eyebrow, instead as they got closer with the speed of the music her tail would wrap around him, going behind his back before tickling his jaw. Using her tail as leverage she would pull him closer and whisper into his ear. “Can you?” With a laugh she would then spin away joy in her eyes.

No sooner did she spin away would Cassian call over someone with a tray of shots, she would look at the shot in his hand, her head already feeling fuzzy and would hesitate for just a moment before grabbing it and knocking it back, knowing having challenged him back, there was no way she was going to back down now. A small amount of the drink dribbled on her chin which she was quick to wipe off with her thumb.

Tori, still in the mood to dance, her inhibitions already all but gone would turn again towards the crowd only to suddenly be forced a step back by a man whom was suddenly in her face, she was unsure if he had bumped into him, or him into her. The man was large, even by the standards of men standing almost a head higher than the hybrid-draconyte, she was unable to tell his race, though she was not entirely sure it was human. As she would run into him she would consider apologizing before getting annoyed as suddenly she would feel his hand on her side, no doubt to ‘stabilize’ her. “Oh there, aren't you a cute thing. Looking for company?” He would say, still having not moved his hand from her side.

“Certainly not.” She would say with a huff, moving his hand. “You could not handle me, and besides. I think the words you were looking for we're sorry for being a dick and running into you.” She would say as she turned back to Cassian hoping to put the entire encounter behind them. Instead, she would feel a half-forceful hand upon her shoulder.

“Aww… Don’t be like that.” She would hear causing her anger to rise.

Meeting of two houses[Cassian] Empty Re: Meeting of two houses[Cassian]

For the smallest of seconds, which he promptly chased off no sooner had it entered the edge of his mind, Cassian contemplated if he could handle her. He assured himself that he could, even rose to the occasion of a challenge for once, thrilled to expend a little bit of energy. There was only so much joy in easy conquests and mindless women out for his money and free drinks, though he rarely turned down a chance for any sort of amusement. But wait, Tori wasn't a conquest. At best she was an ironic distraction. She was the very noble daughter he'd been quick to avoid. There was no denying that she wasn't what he'd anticipated at all, but it seemed like it would only bring his mother some sort of sick and twisted validation if she found out he dallied with her of his own free will in the slightest.

Then again, Cassian wasn't known to make sound choices, even when he knew the consequences. He was smooth and coy, but he wasn't afraid of looking foolish. He was more of the here and now kind of man that let himself go where the winds took him...even if the winds were alcohol and hormones. Paying the price was tomorrow-Cassian's problem.

That tail of hers was delightful, and he'd be lying if he said his buzzed mind wasn't mulling over the implications of such an appendage in the more intimate of circumstances. Those ear whispers were going to get her in trouble one day, if not with him, then with someone with less wits about them. He chuckled as she countered him with his own question, then spun out of his grasp to a new, tantalizing distance. This time, however, she encountered another Red Eye patron.

He'd watch her with interest as she tried to deal with the larger man.

"While I'm sure you don't need my help, I'm terribly impatient," Cassian grinned, slipping smoothly around her to her side, where he slipped his hand between the hybrid and the Eldritch. Laying a palm on the man's chest, Cassian gave him a provoking shove. "It's one of my many flaws, but it leads to so much fun," he leaned over to purr in her ear, then turned his words and eye on the handy brute. "She's not looking for company, but I am. Will I do?" he asked with a smirk. He might not swing that way to his knowledge, but he found that it unnerved most thuggish types enough to either diffuse the situation or escalate it. There was no in-between.

This seemed the type to maybe not take too well, which was fine. Dancing and a fight had been on the table, maybe the latter was starting a little early. Or, more interestingly, why not both? Judging by the small black horns that were almost hidden by his equally inky hair, this was a demonatta and he was in the process of swinging at Cassian. His body was a lithe and quick as the demonatta was burly, so he leaned backward out of range of the punch, pushing his hand against it as it went by to spin the man around like a dance move. When the irritated Eldritch came back around to face Cassian, a tanned hand whipped out and grabbed the same hand he'd shoved, bending it back uncomfortably and forcing the demonatta to drop to his knees lest his arm break.

"Aw, you don't need to kneel. I'm pretty, but I'm no princess," he said to the man, a slightly sadistic gleam crossing his gaze before he glanced over at Tori. "Do you want to dance with him now? He looks like he might be sorry for being a dick now..."

Tori was excited, ecstatic even to have found this strange, and alluring blue haired man. He was giving her all she had wanted in her escape from her family matters, and so much more. Truthfully, she knew sooner or later her choice to leave the event and shirk her duties would bite her in the but, but in her hazy state, she couldn’t care less. With a quick smile, she would lick her lips after taking the shot, and smile as the two of them danced.

Her excitement, and enjoyment was quickly happened, and as she was about to turn around with a scowl on her face, she would notice that the man would smoothly walk past her, and move in-between the two beings. Tori was not one to usually let others fight her battles, but she was also interested to see how he handled it. For some reason, it felt different. Him stepping in, vs some ‘hero’ trying to do it. As he spoke up, alluding to the possibility of him and the man, Tori would have to hide(poorly) the smile and giggle which escaped her lips, a sound which would no doubt be heard by the bullheaded man.

It seemed; the man however did not lie it. With a quick movement the man would attempt to strike, punching at the blue haired man. Without even blinking an eye Tori’s mood would change entirely, she would step forward, entirely ready to teach this man a lesson. However, before she even had the chance with sudden ease Cassian was to move dodging the man’s attack, and whipping the man around in an almost dancelike move. Tori would once more smile, watching the man move, it was so much like a cat.

Suddenly, the man was sitting at her feet, upon his knees, his arm twisted heavily behind his back in an awkward angle. “ohhh, I mean, you might not want the kneeling, but I will certainly take it.” Tori would say with a half-smile, the words dropping like venom from her lips as she spoke. As she stepped forward, she would ignore the mans grimas as her heel would find his foot, pressing heavily, as she shifted her weight uncaringly. When the blue haired man would ask if she wished to dance with him now, she would smile.

“Naaaah.” With a quick movement she would bring her shoe off her foot, and instead bring the knee to the mans face, causing a flood of crimson liquid to fall from his face. “He seems too boring for me. You on the other hand…” She would lean forward pressing her hand into his neck, her cheeks would be red from the drink, and her words would start to sound slurred.. “What else do we have to do today?” She would be distracted, but would see from the corner of her eyes that suddenly a few more men were stepping up to the two of them, friends of the man she kicked maybe? “Seems… we might be done dancing.”
